Two Thoughts

If you think coming up with Two thoughts is easy you should try it…LOL
It’s funny how when you are not put on the spot how easy it can be to write!

Here it is Tuesday and it is time for two thoughts…

I am on the farm and today I am after the Japanese Beetle. They seem to be eating everything around here. The fields are a buzz with these beetles hovering just above them. It’s a wild site to see so many at one time.

I think the cropduster has pushed them from the other fields our way because he has been spraying all around us!

Have you ever noticed that Japanese Beetles do not fly well? As I walk across the yard here they fly into the side of the house with a big BOOM or into a window. They don’t splat ether, they are so tough, I was hit by one diving through the air and could not believe how hard it hit me! It’s mostly the grapes, roses, hibiscus and fruit trees they love, but so do we! So I have no choice but to spray them.

I have been working a bunch here on the farm this last week I dug and put in the three hundred foot line to get water to the pole building out back then we dug the hole for the septic system. I have always wanted water and sewer in the building and it all worked out this last week to be able to put one in. Some of you might think it is silly but if you ever had to go to the bathroom like NOW three hundred feet is a long run…LOL
The building is big enough too, it is 3200 sq ft. so plenty of room for a nice bathroom. It sure was a lot of digging though. We had huge piles of dirt, so much I could spread it around and level out some bumpy spots. I see why they charge so much to have this done it was a lot of work to complete the job.

So I am putting on my shoes and off to spray the attackers 🙂 have a great Tuesday!

Two Thoughts #95

#95 That’s a lot of blog posts, I am glad we do this each week ’cause I get to take the time to blog some. I spent the morning cleaning out all the spam again… OMG will it ever stop!

We came back from vacation not only because we thought it was time but it was supposed to be warming up 🙂 … NOT the weather was a tease it was really nice and then it went back to cold. I woke up the other morning and thought I had been transported to Alaska there was three inches or more of snow on the ground everywhere!

I guess it wasn’t to bad because it was on the weekend so I didn’t have to go out if I didn’t want to – I watched movies instead… I thought that was the best choice.

So I have been taking out all the things I have stored over winter in my building here on the farm and I am wondering where I got all this stuff from. I thought before I left I had downsized but evidently not enough. If you ever want to see stuff, I have a 3200 sq ft building of stuff. I spent the afternoon cleaning out the wood shop area so I could get some work done… What a mess! I don’t remember leaving it this way but I was in a hurry to get out of here. Today I am working on the garage part so I am going to have to take everything out and then put back what I want to keep in some sort of an orderly fashion. Not only is this a chore it has to be… 38°F Feels Like: 33 so the weather channel says. NICE! Maybe I should just start taking the antibiotics now and beat getting the cold… LOL I knew I should have stayed another month in the South Pacific! Oh well, I am here so I will deal with it but I didn’t get to acclimate as they say so it is super cold to me.

All the kids have moved out, well except for one he is on his way as soon as they finish his house which will be soon. I have given away everything – horses(sad to see my horse go) all the hay, one of the wolves and another is getting ready to go to her new home, the parrot is going to his new home on Saturday so it will be just Woofy, my timber wolf – I, can’t give away my wolf too! I never really thought of selling the farm and I didn’t feel as though I should, it’s our family farm but with the kids gone and the farm dog passed away it just seems barren around here, no more kids and cousins around – it’s too quiet… I thought I would never say that! I guess it’s time to make a change and do something different something that occupies my time and some fun other then mending fences and growing hay and mowing large amounts of grass. The Realtor comes this week to do the home tour and I already put the farm on the market. So I guess we will see what the next chapter will bring when the place sells.

I wonder if I could get a custom easy chair for a sailboat!?

Tuesday Two Thoughts

Here I am it’s early this Tuesday it’s been so hot that the air conditioner has fogged the double pain windows on the inside of the house… At first I thought it was foggy outside… LOL The windows have cleared and all the hay has been cut so it’s just green fields across the landscape. If one listens carefully the quiet sound of the spinning windmills can be heard along with an occasional howl from the wolves. It’s always so pleasant here it’s here on the farm – it’s hard to be self employed, I have to use great self discipline and self motivation to get moving and get work done so I can do what all Americans do… Pay Bills! I have been self employed since 1982 and yes, I chose a hard life.

I laugh and tell people when they ask why I’m self employed and I say “It’s because I couldn’t handle a regular job.” Most think it’s an easy life but it really isn’t. Sure you can do whatever you want to but in the end you will pay for it one way or the other. I guess what got me to this thought was the award given to me by Bud in my last post, the word versatile. This is one of the key points to being successful in anything we do being self employed and staying ahead of the game. The ability to change gears and and then stay focused on what the task at hand is and then change back again without missing a beat. Versatile is having more than one source of income in order to make it through the tough times… Not that our economy is having a tough time!

It’s time as Americans we demand that our government stop this madness of spending our way out if trouble – it just isn’t going to work. Let me do that with my corporation and I will be blogging from jail! Why we have to police the world and keep spending money on everyone else but our own people is beyond me. I look at the TV and it used to be Feed the Children and it would be kids across the globe hungry – you know you have seen them. The other day it was Feed the Children – Americans feeding Americans. How many families would fifty bucks make a difference right now… A lot -yeah that’s the same thought I had! So why do we just sit back and let this happen.

Is it that we feel oppressed by the media that we can do nothing but accept this. Have we given up on writing our representatives and congressmen? We did employ them so maybe some direction wouldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t hire a carpenter and just say build me a house and not give him a plan. I don’t have all the answers but I can say if our great country was run as a business and not the way it has been we would still be excuse me… Kicking Ass and taking names. I have an app on my phone for the national debt and if every man, woman, and child were to write a check for $43,543.63 we could bring our Nations check book to a zero balance. That is just too much and for what agenda is all this debt for may I ask? It is hard to believe our economy has arrived to this point and so many are suffering.

Oh heavens, I have gone off on a rant I don’t do this often so thanks for reading I hope I didn’t bore you 🙂

Reflections of the Last Year

The first thing that comes to mind as I write my post today is the photo… I took this on the Nanticoke River in Southern Delaware on a cold day just before spring of last year 🙂

Things were very different then, life was always on the move off to the office… go go go.. it was a lot of fun but with that comes a lot of stress so it was time for a change. So I am back to just doing what I love to do, work on the web and some construction on old houses- yes I am a remodeler. I find this is much more fun to do and it gives me more time to spend with the family and the projects that I want to work on here at the farm. Working in the office is just not for me I need open spaces and constant changes so back to the field I went.

This is one project it was a fun one 🙂

I have not quit working on the web I have built and sold web sites and have worked on my own. It has been an exciting investment of time. My favorite site is BlogDumps, it really is a lot of fun to hang out with everyone and I guess because it belongs to me if I don’t like it I just make some changes, not like a customer’s website where you have to get what they want out of their head on on to the web. I am really happy that BlogDumps has been growing as time goes by, it’s slow growth but that’s ok I really don’t want to be overwhelmed all of a sudden. I have tried to make BlogDumps a social site that is simplified for bloggers, not too much, and just enough to still have some fun. I guess that is what brought about Top Sites Tuesday where we can all get together and hang out and just have some fun reading each other thoughts on the theme for the week.

As far as general life itself we had the wettest Spring ever last year. I thought it would never stop raining! Thank God we live in a high and dry place 🙂 it was a good start to summer though we had some fun in the sun then my grandson was born. He is so cool! He will be one year old soon too. Has any one noticed they grow kids bigger now days!?

It seemed to be a wet fall this last year also but it didn’t keep us from having fun and taking a few trips to the wine country and following the wine trails, I would really like to do more traveling I love it.

Then came Mister Winter… Wow did he show up with a big HELLO! I have never seen that much snow here ever and if I never see that much snow again it’s ok with me!

It’s all gone now and Spring is here and it is time to plant here on the farm and start the new season. This is my favorite time of year – not to hot, not to cold… Great working weather I must say. It won’t be as wet of a spring this season though I just know it ’cause I bought a cap for my truck… LOL we will probably have a unusual drought or something.

Two Thoughts?




I have so many ruining through my head how do I stop them for a moment to put two of them in a post!
Should I write on our economy?

How about our society… No I wrote that on Wrongblog last night… Sorry I had a little rant going on there.

How about those that drain our country of resources and that do not deserve them – they just know the system and how to work it… That would be a long boring post…

I could write about my work but you all know what I do so that would be redundant.
Oh so many thoughts…

As I sit here in my easy chair this morning gazing out the front window across my farm land, I guess I will just let my mind wonder for a few moments and write them down.

It is very cold this morning…18 degrees and it snowed a little last night. There is still snow on the ground from last week, bunny tracks all over the place as they look for food and shelter from the cold. A few bald eagles have stopped by this morning to see what’s going on on the farm today they are so beautiful and graceful to watch, I had better wait to let the Chihuahua (we call her Taco Bell) out or she might take flight! Timber (the wolf) snuck in the house to get out of the cold she is back outside early so watch out Mr. Bunny Rabbit…

The snow and Canadian geese have arrived in full force in the front of the farm there must be literally hundreds of thousands of them… I always look out the window and yell out it looks like we are on the Calamari just so the kids will correct me one more time and say, “It’s the Kalahari Dad” with some what of an attitude in their voice and I just chuckle. As I look out the window this morning from my easy chair I wonder what kind of crops I should grow come spring… I want to do something different this year.

In know that was more then one thought but as I said I would just let it flow I can’t just choose one although the first was what I see out my window so I guess that counts as one…LOL

My second thought- 11:30 am *still in the easy chair* I have been working on a design for a home energy windmill I am just about out of the planning stage. The pole is up, the wiring is from the pole to the house and the construction is about to begin on the wind generator itself. Since I am in the construction business also, I have the tools and equipment to do this in the shop here on the farm. I have plenty of room it’s a 3200 square foot shop with all the tools a man could want… I have collected them my entire life. I can’t wait to get this done, I have never been this excited to do a project – especially one that will be such a positive one. I will be able to stop taking from the infrastructure and have some electric for the mere cost of wind. It seems to always be windy here year round. The farm is on one of the high spots of the Delaware Peninsula. What got me thinking about building a windmill is that friends always would say “Oh if we are going to the farm I had better get a wind breaker.”

I guess I had better get my shoes on, I have to go to town and talk to the local diner owner, he wants to remodel the place. It’s 11:30 am or so here and the sun is up high and it has warmed up a bit so it’s time to hit the road.

Another Monday!

Well this Monday has been much better than the last few.

It has been really busy working on the web lately. I have new sites almost ready for sale each with a blog attached – I hope to be finished with them this week. I have had a lot of fun over on BlogDumps it really makes working on the web a lot of fun. I guess it’s my playground so to speak, it takes the everyday coding and creating sites and online stores for people off my plate and let’s me have a good time.

I noticed I have been getting so many emails advertising so many get rich schemes and OMG I have won every lotto from here to Germany! If it were true I would be wealthier than Oprah!!! And what’s with all the pills? Don’t these people have anything better to do!? I guess so many people fall for this baloney that’s what keeps them going.

So the grandson is doing well he is such a cutie! We are going to Hershey Farms to take the weekend off and have a good time I can’t wait, I could use a break! If you’ve never been and are looking for a quiet, relaxing get-away with lots of things to see.. go to Hershey Farms outside of Strasbourg, Pennsylvania.
