Two thoughts for Tuesday

It’s a crazy wonderful life, it seems as though there is so much going on too.
Tomorrow should be our last day on the 4000 sq ft house until the punch list.

My first thought is it will be nice to get back to some kind of normalcy, the daily routine where nothing gets in the way of what I want to do. I hate it when life gets in the way!
This house has taken way to long and eaten up a lot of time I’m so ready to be finished and start something new.

So it was off to the doctor again today this is getting to be too much. I’m ready for the whole accident and banged up crap to be over with. But no, since it has been so long it’s off to an Orthopedist for another opinion! Yes two doctors opinion is not enough to come to the conclusion that we were banged up and the crap is going to hurt for a while.

My second thought is why oh why did we ever stay home for the winter!?
Seriously it has been so cold I made a blanket fort with the electric heating blanket and refused to come out on Saturday!

I worked on the web something I have been wanting to do for some time. I really want to implement the changes I have in mind for BlogDumps 🙂

So life goes on Old Blue the faithful farm truck has bled to death and I finally got the mystery truck running.
It’s funny how some just give up, three people tried to get it running and quit working on it. Now granted it took a couple months and chasing and changing out parts but it runs like a champ. Now it just needs a nice paint job.

Well it won’t be long and spring will be here Walmart already has the garden section filling up, winter clothes are going on sale so we must be getting close. I don’t think I could handle another frozen pipe situation again this winter, yes it happened twice so far!

New post

Two Thoughts

Funny thing, I usually am able to pull a post out of thin air… As I get up today I am thinking so hard for a post I am lost.

So I checked in with all the kids via Facebook, I guess that could be a thought 🙂
Now if you want to message someone through FB you can leave a voice mail. Doesn’t it seem as though its getting to be a “you heard it first on FB” society.

My thought on this is – FB is gobbling up more than everyone thinks. Can you imagine having a database of everyone? Their likes, dislikes, photos, conversations and more! FB got everyone to give up their information voluntarily. I know if the government asked us to do this we would all say “No”
My first thought is, so what makes us all want to share so much on FB?
I do ” Like” the service FB provides… Whole new thought to the word like, right? They have tried hard to make FB available, easy to use and have succeeded.

FB is even getting into the phone business… Is this where we are headed? Instead of a phone number we will just click on their profile and talk or text ? Will the phone book change to a FB search for business pages? I know I am reaching here but you do remember the Dick Tracy watch?

So did you see the video on the giant hurricane stuck on the North Pole of Saturn that’s 1200 miles wide? No? It looks as though they made it up. Where am I going with this you say? I have no clue but it was on the news… I mean FB!

Two Thoughts For Tuesday

Sometimes it gets fun around here while we are working.
We were all in the back field Sunday afternoon, planting, working the dirt and putting in marker steaks. It was a bit cold but nice enough out.

My first thought when my buddy said we should hook up the disk to the Rock Crawler Jeep was… Holy crap this will be fun!
Off we went to get the parts and the Jeep. We got a few looks like” what are those two up to?” lol
After it was hooked up Buddy said jump in and go for a ride… We laughed and carried on as we threw dirt everywhere with the radio blasting!
After a few runs around the field I mentioned to Buddy that the disk was like a sea anchor and if he were to floor it, the disk would keep the rear of the Jeep straight. Buddy said “you think so?”
Me… “Of course you could floor it and it would be fine, just go for it.”
So he did and the dirt was flying, the radio blasting with the heat on. The next thing we see is Trina looking at us as if we were crazy with camera in hand. We definitely received a few funny looks as we continued to have fun on our home grown tractor pull!

My second thought was who said farming can’t be fun? Even though we were goofing off we still managed to get more planted before it rained.

New post Top Sites Tuesday

Hotel California

Where we are staying they played the song Hotel California live.
They have live music this often. My first thought when I heard this was about when we were in Todo Santos at the mission and the Hotel California in Mexico. It wasn’t until our visit there tha I realized they play this song in almost every language even the chipmunks sang the song while we were there… Unbelievable!

My second thought is how popular this song really is. The Eagles are very good, I don’t seem to get tired of them as time goes by they have too many good classics.

I was going to upload a video I took with the iPad but it will not upload – go figure, well, we have had some computer issues as I have heard and read about on Trina’s Blog – lol , ok not funny. Gosh I hope she reads this later.

I tried to move the video to the new computer and compress it and now WordPress will not upload it.

I give up you’ll just have to take my word for it it was good

Food Top Sites Tuesday

So you want rain?

It amazes me that when we started the pumpkin patch we had some rain and then went into a drought situation. So we did a lot of watering during this time, and then we watered again. We have lost some plants and have over seeded in the hopes they can produce pumpkins in time.

This week seems like all the rain we needed came at once it has been raining daily and the rain gauge is about to overflow. My first thought is I can’t believe we just can’t get a little bit at a time it would be so easy. It is supposed to rain all week. I am not sure this is a good thing you don’t want pumpkins sitting in water but then again everything comes with a price.

This brings me to my second thought of the day. I get to go ride around and spray for powdery mildew and all the fun things that like to grow on pumpkins. That’s OK the part I have an issue with is the price of the spray. It’s so high priced it’s not funny – $245.00 for a quart?! I have four acres. That’s not the worst there is another type of fungus that attacks pumpkins and it takes a different type of spray… OMG the pumpkins are going to have to cost a fortune in order to make any money or there better be a bunch of them! It has been a lot of learning doing this project I am not sure if I am cut out for farming, it can be stressful. Most people think you just plant the seeds spray a little and watch the plants and money roll in, not this case it’s hard dirty work don’t let anyone tell you different.

For those of you that follow what I am up to, I do have a fun project that I have started a 1978 13.3 Boston Whaler Sport it’s a total restoration, new everything, but I will save that for another post!

Wine and Cheese

My son has move to Tennessee because there is more work (not wine and cheese lol) and better opportunities for young men there.
I hated to see him and his wife go but they are doing so well it was worth the move. I miss them but it’s not like they moved all the way across the country.
I know – where you going with this Wolf, Well when they left they left behind a large five gallon bottle… I though Oh a change jar how cool is that. Then I thought … Wow it would take a life time to fill it up, so what to do with it?
So my first thought was to check out eBay and and see what they had for wine kits!
For just a couple dollars I bought a stopper and what they call a bubbler or Airlock to let the fermentation gasses out and nothing into the bottle. I didn’t realize how easy it was to make wine, add the fruit, the wine yeast and wait about 28 days and it’s done. Unless you like it sweet then you add sugar and it will sweeten it and make the fermentation faster. I could not believe how cheep this was to get started doing this.
The Jug will make twenty or so bottles of wine when finished. So my second though is it won’t take a life time to fill or empty this big bottle so it’s a much better use for it than just sitting around waiting for me to throw change in it. The best part is Trina likes wine and cheese so I will be in the good graces when it’s finished.

New post Sailing

Tuesday’s Two Thoughts

So this is the last week we will be here in the marina. Hollywood, the trawler we were working on, is finished and it is time to head north before the heat and bugs come out. I hope to be home by April. There are many places we didn’t see because we were running from the cold.

My daughter is here and we are having a blast, other than her plane was six hours late.

We are going fishing in the river close by today on the boat it should prove to be an interesting ride.
My first thought today is in Florida they do not let the small fishing shops sell the fishing license – you have to call and do it over the phone is what the man at the local bait shop said. Then he also said with a frowny face, “You can go to Walmart and purchase one there, the big chain stores get to sell whatever they want I guess.” So I wonder why the state would want to hurt the small bait shops, isn’t it small business that makes this country great or am I just thinking too old school?

This Friday we should have everything finished and then we throw the dock lines and start our trip north and head home. So far there have been no glitches but as usual Murphy hasn’t stepped up to the plate yet …lol

The boat is in good shape, the divers have cleaned the bottom and changed the zinks, some of the lines have been changed and some of the rigging has been changed or fixed for better performance. We even added a deck light so when we are at anchor we will be able to see well out on the foredeck.

Thought number two is should we go through Georgia or skip it? It’s a long ride but it is nice so I guess I have a few more days to decide. The ICW twists and turns so much in Georgia they could have dug a six foot connecting channel in some places and saved us ten miles in some areas. All fun things seem to come to an end and now the new adventure home begins 🙂
