What Are We Getting Into?

All this talk about Syria, the government that kills its own people with poison gas, or so our government says. Assad (The Syrian Leader) says he didn’t do it and our government calls liar.

But shouldn’t Obama wait for the UN investigation, or should he just call liar and bomb them?

Before you answer that China and Russia are sitting by in their warships off the coast of Syria, in a friendly manner of course, to watch how we proceed. Hmmm, sounds like a brawl is about to get underway…

Then I saw the portion of the glen beck show

My first thought was YUCK! Then I started to absorb what was being said. Now if all this is true, what the heck are we doing?
Even the Russian government is questioning what and why we are supporting these rebels. Are we going to supply another crazy rebel group? It amazes me how the people in this country seem to turn a blind eye toward this sort of of stuff that goes on. The attitude that it really won’t effect us here, others just don’t have a clue.

In my opinion we really don’t need another war. Our Country is already in a bad place, war isn’t going to help.

My second thought, because of the presence of the Chinese and Russian warships many news sources are referring to the Syrian Crisis as the beginning of WW3. And that is definitely not what I ever wanted to hear.

In tonight’s speech to the Nation Obama has decided to postpone the bombing.
The Syrian government has admitted they have the chemical weapons. The Russians are backing a diplomatic move for the Syrians to give up the weapons and who’s on first!

Vote vote vote

So as I get up this morning realizing it is election day, like who could forget!

My first thought goes back to what I heard some one say the other day…Delaware is such a small state our vote really doesn’t count.

Well in my opinion if you don’t vote don’t bitch, I know that sounds harsh but that’s the way I feel on the subject. So many complain and when you ask did you vote… Oh no it wasn’t worth the time or they have some other excuse. Sure I could use an excuse but I will go today and vote.

My second thought is boy would it be easy to bail on this election with so much to still get finished. We cleaned and scrubbed the boat, fixed some things and added food to the galley. There is still much to do but I think we will still make our Friday departure date. It’s the day after the next rain and it will be in the sixties so it’s a good time to go. So off once again to the boat this morning back to the farm and off to vote, it’s going to be a busy day.

PS. I’m with you Bud, I do like my iPad and it will be great for navigation but I still love my PC laptop! I tried to do my post on the iPad and had to break out the PC… Much easier!

Tuesday’s Thoughts

So I awoke early this morning to cold weather in June? I am talking sixty one degrees – so odd for this time of year but I will take it. It is now after lunch and it is only sixty eight degrees! I am posting late due to having to take care of some IRS paperwork, gotta love it… yeah me too!

So I was told to fax in a copy of each return for 2009-2011 for the 944 form. I said we sent 941 we do not file the 944. Long story short she said we do not have those. I asked how could that be she replied “If you filed them they were rejected and we put you on a 944 form.” I replied we never received a rejection notice. She replied “My apologies” I asked were all the payments made? “Yes” was the reply. My first thought… I am thinking how could this be? If they have the return money how did they know how to apply it? OK I said, “so you just need the return 944 and we are good” 🙂 “Yes” was the reply and she also said “make sure to file one for each year or we will assess what it should be from the previous year and you may get a penalty”.

As you can see I am having a great Tuesday morning! Left the nice rock you to sleep on the sailboat cold weather want to sleep all day mode!

So I am off to the accountant office to get what I need to accomplish this. He says “We do not file a 944” I said why don’t we just file one and be done with this? So I call and find out that after the accountant has dug out all the old paperwork that even if we do file them they will be rejected!

Second thought of the day -Why does this have to be so difficult?

So the accountant fills out the 944 and I fax them in while on the phone to insure they are received. The nice lady said they are all here but you missed signing 2011, OK my bad! I sign and return it by fax. The nice lady said “Oh the 2011 is a zero so I will not send it to be processed.” I replied “HUH?” Thinking to myself confused, then why have me sign it and re fax? She waited a few moments and said excuse me sir? I said “I was told to file even if there was a zero or the tax would be figured from the previous year.” “Hold please” The nice lady comes back on the phone and says I have received all the copies and will be sending them to processing.

OK I am going to add a third thought… out of twelve returns how come I never got a rejection notice but I did receive a letter today, three years later that said if I do not file a 944 form I would loose the payments I made that they have no idea where they are to be placed. So now that I have confused all of you and myself I am off to work on a customer’s boat and get some rest:)

Two Thoughts on Importing

So I am trying to import some items from China… I know what the heck!?!

If you look at the labels on almost everything it is from China, I never saw this until I started this whole process.

Ok. So you want to know what it is? A wind turbine, yes and it is a big one. I just can’t help it it is a good price and it is the same one they sell in the USA for six times the price… Go figure.

The wind turbine at this price will pay the money back in ten months, not bad.

First thought on this is:
Should I learn Chinese? The emails might be much easier to understand and I could learn something at the same time. A lot gets lost in the translation and I have to ask so many questions that they are probably sick of me by now!

Second thought:

I have never done something like this before and I am scared to death they are going to rip me or something will go wrong and I am waiting for the other shoe to drop!!!

If it all works out though I will start importing them to sell through our company. This is a good product and at the right price (Not gouging people) they will save money in the long run and I will continue to be my same ol’ self employed person… company motto… Larry Darrel and Darrel – anything for a buck! LOL

So I will blog about how this adventure in importing goes – the good, the bad or the down right wonderful, you just new I was going to write ugly… hehehe! Think positive 🙂

Tuesday Two Thoughts

Here I am it’s early this Tuesday it’s been so hot that the air conditioner has fogged the double pain windows on the inside of the house… At first I thought it was foggy outside… LOL The windows have cleared and all the hay has been cut so it’s just green fields across the landscape. If one listens carefully the quiet sound of the spinning windmills can be heard along with an occasional howl from the wolves. It’s always so pleasant here it’s here on the farm – it’s hard to be self employed, I have to use great self discipline and self motivation to get moving and get work done so I can do what all Americans do… Pay Bills! I have been self employed since 1982 and yes, I chose a hard life.

I laugh and tell people when they ask why I’m self employed and I say “It’s because I couldn’t handle a regular job.” Most think it’s an easy life but it really isn’t. Sure you can do whatever you want to but in the end you will pay for it one way or the other. I guess what got me to this thought was the award given to me by Bud in my last post, the word versatile. This is one of the key points to being successful in anything we do being self employed and staying ahead of the game. The ability to change gears and and then stay focused on what the task at hand is and then change back again without missing a beat. Versatile is having more than one source of income in order to make it through the tough times… Not that our economy is having a tough time!

It’s time as Americans we demand that our government stop this madness of spending our way out if trouble – it just isn’t going to work. Let me do that with my corporation and I will be blogging from jail! Why we have to police the world and keep spending money on everyone else but our own people is beyond me. I look at the TV and it used to be Feed the Children and it would be kids across the globe hungry – you know you have seen them. The other day it was Feed the Children – Americans feeding Americans. How many families would fifty bucks make a difference right now… A lot -yeah that’s the same thought I had! So why do we just sit back and let this happen.

Is it that we feel oppressed by the media that we can do nothing but accept this. Have we given up on writing our representatives and congressmen? We did employ them so maybe some direction wouldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t hire a carpenter and just say build me a house and not give him a plan. I don’t have all the answers but I can say if our great country was run as a business and not the way it has been we would still be excuse me… Kicking Ass and taking names. I have an app on my phone for the national debt and if every man, woman, and child were to write a check for $43,543.63 we could bring our Nations check book to a zero balance. That is just too much and for what agenda is all this debt for may I ask? It is hard to believe our economy has arrived to this point and so many are suffering.

Oh heavens, I have gone off on a rant I don’t do this often so thanks for reading I hope I didn’t bore you 🙂
