So is it bad that all I can think about is getting enough money together to hit the road again!?
Don’t get me wrong I have had so much fun tearing down the tractor motor…. Mowing the fields getting ready to plant them… LOL you believe me right?
I worked this last week on a customers house, their roof was in need of repair something awful, it was a good change of pace from what I have been doing I uploaded a couple photos.
I didn’t take a completed photo with the moldings under the roof but you can see what we had to go through to get this right… Clean, scrape, clean etc…
What a mess but it is much better now
and I can squirrel a few of the dollars away for the next adventure. I have never wanted to just be on the move before but after this last trip I can’t shake the feeling.
My first thought this Tuesday is that the sailboat is fun to take out of the slip but not really because we are not really going anywhere… We have to come right back! I enjoy cruising the bay but it just makes me that much eager to go on another adventure.
The second thought of the day is Today is my grandson’s third birthday, we have been staying at my sons the last few days helping out. It has been fun and I can’t wait to hang out with Jacob tonight and see the rest of the family. So I wonder, is it really necessary to buy giant presents for one that is only three? I don’t think so because their attention span is so short they won’t even remember what happened in a week. I think at this age it is more about small things – cake and fun with family this is much more important and is long remembered and shapes the young ones to be family oriented.
Have a great Tuesday

So here I am back to reality… I mowed acres of land on the farm yesterday and have been sneezing my @$$ off ever since. The tractor motor had to be torn down, it has a blown head gasket. So while it’s all apart I might as well clean up all the other motor parts (radiator, oil cooler, etc…) before putting it back together. Since we don’t use the front pasture we pulled the electric wire and we are going to till as much as we can, right up to the house (less mowing)
The sailboat is all washed up and tucked away in her slip and all our gear removed. I now know why they call if foul weather gear, Yikes they needed washing.
So here I am, I have a customer that I have to go attend to he has been waiting patiently since we left.
As I look out the window it all seems as though the trip was a dream – nothing has changed since we left and came back. Reality. Is it really all it’s cracked up to be? Work, Kid drama, Accountant, licensing renewal, insurance premiums… OMG I liked being a floater, a transient as they would call us as we would sail in.
Is that a bad thing? No worries other than don’t crash into the dock! I am beginning to think I enjoyed the moments of sheer terror – it’s not as bad as dealing with the IRS!!!
Can you hear that??? (if you can’t please pick up the nearest sea shell) It is the sound of the sea beckoning me to come back… Don’t leave me it says – Flipper misses you
So much to do here in reality land and it all seems as thought there is not enough time for it all. Why, I am not sure but I can say my first thought this week for Top Sites Tuesday is to get it all done and finished. My second thought is “RUN LIKE HELL”
Have a great Tuesday

So it was a long run from Hampton VA. to Deltaville. We met up with another friend and anchored up in a small creek – it was so still it was like a mill pond. We slept great and woke early and left before first light it was still dark but we knew our way out back into the bay. I am so glad we left when we did the forecast was total wrong and we took a bit of a beating in the Chesapeake Bay to make it to Solomons Island, Maryland, it was a sixty mile hop and we were in and re fueling by 2 pm any later and it would not have been pretty out there.
So here we are, reality is setting in we are slowly dragging our way to the Choptank River – we called ahead a secured our slip so we can come in when we are ready.
Already the phone rang again today and a customer wants me at his house first thing Monday morning. Wow is this going to be a big dose of reality I might as well take it intravenously and go for the full dose!!!
So we are chilling on the sailboat and wondering already what the next adventure should be… I know you think we are nuts but hey I resemble that!
As for what to blog about…LOL I am a blogger and I read Buds post so watch out world you might just end up on my blog… hehehe
This was a great adventure, one for the books, six months of fun with many moments of shear terror to make sure we knew we were still alive. I wouldn’t change a thing, the good, the bad, or the Ugly (if you have followed this adventure you know why I capitalized “Ugly”)
So as for the next adventure I guess you will have to stop by and check it out from time to time and see which way our path has taken us.

So we made it, we are at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, I almost can’t believe it myself. We are tied to the docks here at Hampton and plan to leave out at six am into the Chesapeake Bay. The weather is supposed to be in our favor according to the weather man… LOL So I guess I should get out my foul weather gear!!!
We entered the lock early this morning and then headed north on the Elizabeth River going under bridges waiting for others to raise so we could pass. At one point we had to just drift around for almost an hour before they would open the bridge.
One of the most exciting events of the day was dodging the big container ships. The Norfolk area is a very busy port full of ships, navy and many personal boats.
This brings me to my first thought… I have been told that the container ships loose one or two of those big containers now and then and to be very careful because they may be heavy but they still float just below the water. I don’t know how you feel about this but I could not even begin to imagine running into such a thing on the water! I would hope they would report such a disaster fast to mariners with the gps location.
My second thought is I can’t wait to get out into some open water and not worry about channel markers and which creek or river we should be going through, Just sailing away and no worries of what might be coming around the next bend in the river like this morning when the ship and tugs met us at a turn and was taking up the whole river! Just a couple more days across the bay and we will be home after six months and two thousand plus miles
Have a great Tuesday

We are back on the water after many trials, the new engine is working well. With all new engines it will need some adjustments, we will do this when we reach Elizabeth City, NC.
We had one heck of a first day out… It was blowing a stink 25 knots or better and large swells. The wind was in our favor most of the time so this made crossing the Pamlico Sound a bit easier but not much.
We are held up in a small anchorage just south of Dowery Creek It was so calm after the day I fell to sleep with the computer in my lap when trying to write my post…lol

So My first thought of this beautiful sunrise day is can it all go this smooth the rest of the trip? I really hope so we could use a bit of a break with the “little” bit of trouble we have had going home
My second thought is Thank God for friends… Without the help of my dear friend showing up who knows so much about the engine and how to get it all back together we would have been there, stuck for weeks longer I am sure. It is true what they say about sailing…. A few weeks of utter joy and fun coupled with moments of shear terror. But isn’t that just life?
Have a wonderful Tuesday

It’s another beautiful day here in the South as I look across the Neuse River here in Oriental, SC. The sun is coming up and I can’t wait to be underway and headed home to the Chesapeake Bay
We have managed to take out the old motor in the sailboat and have, for the most part, prepped the new one for installation. It is a happy day I think we might manage to get the new motor in the boat today.
This brings me to my first thought this Tuesday. Why is it that people are so nice here in the south? It is almost scary. They are letting us do most of the work on the motor in front of their shop and ask every now and then if we are doing OK. The owner even asked if we needed a certain part he had stashed away that he thought we didn’t have. Now I am not saying that everywhere else people are not nice but maybe it’s the life style or the stress that certain cities bring out of the people. This has been a good trip to watch and see how people are and how they act in different areas. I can assure you of this… I am not a Yachtie by any of the yachtie types standards… lol
My Second thought is – Are we done yet? How about now? Can we leave… Will we be alive by the time we get outta here!!!!!????? As you saw in my last post I have been here way to long… How about now can I go home? I miss Woofy! I think I am starting to miss the tractor and the lawn. Am I loosing it?
Well it is time to shove off and head across the river to the boat yard and get this motor in the boat.
Have a great Tuesday
