My thoughts this morning take me to changes… It’s getting close to that time of year when everything begins to change. Not just the seasons but people themselves begin to hustle and bustle so to speak…

The kids are on their way back to school and in some cases already are.

I guess I got to this subject watching the bus go by down our country road remembering the easy days of when the kids were young and getting on that bus. I would clean house and get things ready to go while Trina would drive them down our long lane. Was it because we could try to, and were able to, keep them from making mistakes is that why it seems so simple then? Yes, they do grow up and change, their problems do to.

I think it was much easier when they were little.

I myself find change in my life as I get older I look back at things I have done and accomplished and I think back to how could I have done that better, I know I have a perfectionist problem.

As I have grown I find that now it is easier to say to myself “do you really want to do this” and I find it is easier to take the simple and more loving way out. ( Not that I was ever stubborn and stood my ground ) Is this due to getting older and I want to show how much I really care? I am not sure but I do like it. I have a customer he says the first 100 years is the hardest… LOL I think he is right! I am glad to see change in my life and that I have the ability to stop myself when it’s easy to get upset over trivial things and just say “Oh well, that’s life”.

I was on my way home yesterday from the lumber yard they loaded the truck horribly bad and the material fell out on the road. Normally years ago I would be upset and very unhappy, probably get home grumpy. I got home and unloaded went in the house and took it out on the garbage, the dishes, the vacuum cleaner, the laundry, by the time I was done the house was spotless and I didn’t remember it had happened I was in bed asleep, it’s growing up I guess.

So here it is Top Sites Tuesday – I am back in the easy chair waiting for a delivery truck and then off to the shop after I finish all my web site work. Yes, I do it all from the easy chair- now I just need an easy button!
It’s another beautiful day… I love this time of year cool at night and warm sun during the day Good working weather. *Sips Latte*

I hope I am not on the end of the line on the truck I have a lot to do today. But if so there is plenty to do around here. It seems as though the work on the farm is never done.

What’s on the refrigerator

I guess if I was the one who did the cooking around the house I could lay clam to the fridge here in the house!

I do have a refrigerator though it’s a nice one lots of space a side by side door assembly.
On the outside it has some cool stickers, the kind one would see in a mechanics shop and on top of the refrigerator is a stack of moving blankets… a piece of wood and a folded piece of plastic

I know you are asking, “What the heck Wolf?”

This is the fridge in my shop… I don’t use it but to keep things from freezing in the winter it’s more of a storage cabinet…LOL I have paints and glue etc. in it. I have used it in the past to cool sodas and waters during the summer but I haven’t done anything but use it for storage this year.

Tuesday Two Thoughts

Here I am it’s early this Tuesday it’s been so hot that the air conditioner has fogged the double pain windows on the inside of the house… At first I thought it was foggy outside… LOL The windows have cleared and all the hay has been cut so it’s just green fields across the landscape. If one listens carefully the quiet sound of the spinning windmills can be heard along with an occasional howl from the wolves. It’s always so pleasant here it’s here on the farm – it’s hard to be self employed, I have to use great self discipline and self motivation to get moving and get work done so I can do what all Americans do… Pay Bills! I have been self employed since 1982 and yes, I chose a hard life.

I laugh and tell people when they ask why I’m self employed and I say “It’s because I couldn’t handle a regular job.” Most think it’s an easy life but it really isn’t. Sure you can do whatever you want to but in the end you will pay for it one way or the other. I guess what got me to this thought was the award given to me by Bud in my last post, the word versatile. This is one of the key points to being successful in anything we do being self employed and staying ahead of the game. The ability to change gears and and then stay focused on what the task at hand is and then change back again without missing a beat. Versatile is having more than one source of income in order to make it through the tough times… Not that our economy is having a tough time!

It’s time as Americans we demand that our government stop this madness of spending our way out if trouble – it just isn’t going to work. Let me do that with my corporation and I will be blogging from jail! Why we have to police the world and keep spending money on everyone else but our own people is beyond me. I look at the TV and it used to be Feed the Children and it would be kids across the globe hungry – you know you have seen them. The other day it was Feed the Children – Americans feeding Americans. How many families would fifty bucks make a difference right now… A lot -yeah that’s the same thought I had! So why do we just sit back and let this happen.

Is it that we feel oppressed by the media that we can do nothing but accept this. Have we given up on writing our representatives and congressmen? We did employ them so maybe some direction wouldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t hire a carpenter and just say build me a house and not give him a plan. I don’t have all the answers but I can say if our great country was run as a business and not the way it has been we would still be excuse me… Kicking Ass and taking names. I have an app on my phone for the national debt and if every man, woman, and child were to write a check for $43,543.63 we could bring our Nations check book to a zero balance. That is just too much and for what agenda is all this debt for may I ask? It is hard to believe our economy has arrived to this point and so many are suffering.

Oh heavens, I have gone off on a rant I don’t do this often so thanks for reading I hope I didn’t bore you

How does Music influence lives? Do you apply certain songs to a part of your life?

I do believe music influences our lives especially the youth they look upon the different groups as leaders of their era or generation. I know when I was growing up as a young boy my father would like to listen to Tennessee Ernie Ford. Sixteen Tons and Blood on the saddle were a couple of favorites. My father growing up in the depression time I can see why. This was influential to me but at the time I would have not thought it to be so. Some of the music talked about values and morals that are sometimes not found in the music of today.

When he was home for the weekend on a Friday we would sit and listen to jazz music. He would always tell me this music will influence a lot of great artists – “Do you hear the beat in this music? It’s alive,” he would say.

He was right look at the Santana video below one of my favorite artists and now I know why, you can’t say this music isn’t alive with heart and soul!

Do I apply certain songs to parts of my life the answer is yes, as I grew up surfing going to the beach Led Zepplin was music that I can relate to during this time in my life as we surfed the California coast from one end to the tip of Baja.
Rock music seemed to take over in my love for music but didn’t over shadow my love for good jazz music either. I do like a good Metallica song, I don’t like them all but what group is there that I like every song? It seems as though as we go through life we can remember different parts of our live through music the good the bad and the ugly but without it would we have been able to do as well? The hard times didn’t seem so hard as we turned on the music and drowned them out and the fun time we remember when the fun song comes on…

Two Thoughts

As I sit here gazing out the window from the easy chair this morning I have to wonder what and why our system is so screwy. We have a Jeep in the family a, well, used to be nice one… Rolled,crashed and badly bruised.

No one was hurt but when I talked to the police officer there was a ticket issued for negligent driving. So now you want to know what happened.

My son was coming home from his girl friends house. I told him to be home early, he’s a good kid so he was doing just that. He was on a back country road (one of many in our area) he looked at the radio to see the time and when he looked up a car was going to hit him head-on. So he did what we would all do – swerved and went for the ditch on the side figuring a ditch wouldn’t hurt so bad. That and the jeep being a monster jeep he would have probably ended up driving over them and someone would have been hurt bad. The jeep went up the embankment and flipped over. My son was ok but we sent him to the hospital anyway. So that’s what happened.

Now Thought number two. I asked the not-so-kind officer why he was given a ticket? He replied… “He looked at the radio and didn’t keep his eyes on the road at all times so he was negligent”… But had he hit the other car it would be there fault. (They just left him there and kept going)

So, Hmmmm The clock is on the radio do you think the officer ever looks at his clock or radio? How about speedometers so the next time I get pulled over for a speeding ticket do I just say I didn’t want to be a negligent driver so I didn’t look? What about the driver who has a stick shift and misses a gear – I guess you just grind ‘em till you find ‘em!

I talked to the insurance company and low and behold they said the same thing and then they asked how fast was he driving… OMG, you have to be kidding like I am going to tell you he looked down at the speedometer too!

The officer told my son it was his honesty that got him the ticket and never tell anyone you took your eyes off the road for any reason. I told the not-so-kind officer if I ever have a situation like this you can bet I will make sure do scrape the whole side of the car that was going to hit me so I can avoid being charged with such a ridiculous ticket and I want to thank him for teaching my son to lie to get out of a ticket. I just don’t get it.

I called yesterday to find out where the vehicle was and the insurance lady said “We thought you had the car.” Then she said “No we have the car.” Then she said “No it is being towed to the collision center tomorrow.” Then she said “Wow this happened last month, this has been a drawn out ordeal! We have cut a check for the damage but we haven’t checked the motor and under carriage the garage has to do that so we will do a supplemental payment if it costs more…”

Sorry, Third thought &%$#$##@@! I replied nicely yes, yes it has been long and drawn out… I will call the collision center tomorrow.

It’s Party Time!

It’s early here. I have to finish a windmill and then the lift leaves today… Thank God it’s cool out
I did my web work early… you all know how much I enjoy early…LOL The sun is just coming up over the fields this morning, it looks as if it’s going to be a great day!

Wow, hard to believe it’s been another year and BlogDumps is four now! I think out of all the creations we have made on the web, BlogDumps is by far the best thing we could have ever come up with.
Four years ago, sitting around in the coffee shop we noticed all the blog directories were kinda sucky you just dropped your link and that was it. Once this was done – nothing – we never heard from anyone.

We thought it would be fun to have a place where everyone could hang out and do all kinds of cool things and, as usual, I wanted to have everything. So we went along with just the directory for a little while and now , well, you see how much there is to do on BlogDumps we even have our own IM and Toolbar! We have come a long way.

Not to forget all of the bloggers who have helped us along the way. So many have believed in BlogDumps and supported the site in their own way and for that I thank all of you!

So Happy Birthday to BlogDumps and to all of you many thanks for being a part of it all.

Top Sites Tuesday #69 – What are You Doing to Stay Cool this Summer?

Wow this summer has been hot the last month we have barely had any rain. Great fro grass mowing…LOL You would understand the grass joke if you saw how much grass I have to mow.. Acres of it!

So we have a red neck pool, one of those round above ground pools but I don’t really get into using it. I usually go for the nice easy chair in the central air conditioning, a cool drink of juice and the fans running with a computer on my lap working on websites.

A couple weekends ago it was so hot on Sunday I didn’t even go outside. The heat index was 110 and humid.
Not for me that’s for sure. Yep ice cold air conditioner and a cool drink and a peak outside just to remember why I’m not going outside… LOL

This last weekend we to a trip to Assateague Island and played at the beach. Now that was a lot of fun! There was a nice gentle breeze and the water was perfect for cooling off. If you didn’t step in the wild horse poop you were doing great… Yes there are wild horses there and there and over there! It’s a fun place to go because it’s not to over crowded and you can have fun on the long sandy beach. The surfing isn’t So. Cal but it’s pretty good on a swell.

Two Thoughts On Tuesday

We have been invaded…

Yes that’s right they are low flying (not very good) have no radar and are everywhere! One cannot go out side without protection, have you guessed who they are?

Japanese beetles! They are all over the farm. They absolutely get the ‘Worst Flying’ award… You can hear them hit the side of the house, the windows and you if you happen to be walking through the yard. The airplane bombed a couple farms over and ran them all this direction and if you go outside they fly so bad they will run right into you or anything in its path. If there were not so many it would almost be comical We ran around and sprayed (natural chemicals of course) all of our vegetables and ran in the house so we wouldn’t get hit. I thought about wearing my motorcycle helmet outside today but then Trina made the joke that I should wear a helmet all the time anyway so I said forget it… I’m going for it, I am going to just run to the shop.

Of course it hasn’t rained in a month and I have to go to one of the construction jobs and take new kitchen countertops there so it has been raining for two days… LOL You all can thank me for this later… Hehehe
It always seem to go this way if it can’t get wet it rains isn’t that like Murphys law? So I am off to work I have a busy day first my web site work and then my second job, remodeling houses… I guess its just good to be working now days

Fourth of July

It was a mile-stone day for our family! My son and his son were all able to be together on the Fourth of July.
We had a great time with the kids … LOL I say kids, they are all grown now. They put up a slip and slide and put baby oil and water on it!

Everyone played in the pool, staying cool on the mildly hot day. Then the fire works truck came by and we all bought some sky rockets and mortars that shoot up in the sky and blow up into these cool colors, it was a lot of fun.

We did have a fire patrol after the fireworks were blown off, it hasn’t rained for some time here so we had fired them off in the front hay field where it was green. We still had to use a few buckets of water and stop a few small fires from spreading!

All the guests were great! There were so many I was shocked at how well and good everyone was in keeping the house from being a disaster. I just knew I woulod be cleaning for days but it seemed as though everyone was pitching in all day… Yes we went all day and into the night. I am so glad I wasn’t drinking! The ones that were stayed here or had a designated driver and those that didn’t drink went home.

All in all it was a great day. I guess I should have taken a ton of photos but I am so bad about that. But I did get one of my son and his son finally together on the farm and one of Jacob napping next to the slip-n-slide!
