It’s already getting to be mid-August can you believe it? Time seems to be going so fast!

We have been very lucky and have had plenty of work to do so that probably has something to do with time going by so fast. Did you ever see the Dunkin Donuts commercial where he works so much he finally greets himself going in and out the door? That is how it has been here.

My first though is I am glad we finished the house remodel this last week because it was so hot it was miserable! The job came out beautiful it looked like a new house. It’s always fun to restore a house to the original look rather than change the look to modernize it. The color of the house was nice, a flat natural clay with satin white trim. The white really made the natural clay color pop out.

My second thought is… I always like to take a few days off after we finish work on our day jobs. A house remodel can be exhausting to say the least. During these days off I work around the farm and catch up on things I have not been able to get to. So here is the second thought: I need to get started right away on the next house or I won’t get any rest…LOL There is so much to do here it is incredible:

The deer have run through the fences so they need to be put back up.
The hay we planted did not grow so we have acres of six foot tall weeds that have to be bush hogged.
I used round-up to kill the weeds around the shop but I really think they mistakenly put fertilizer in the bottle!
The shop is full again and I need to go to the dump and get rid of all the scraps and appliances from the different jobs.
All the tools need to be reorganized to get ready for the next job.
The work truck, Old Blue, needs an oil change, break shoes, the trailer tow lights repaired, a good wash and wax, and new tires if I want to get carried away.
The snow plow truck, Mr. Hanky, needs to have the wires repaired after a rabbit decided to eat them all.
The rent house needs a new shower diverter put in…

OMG the list goes on and on! So here it is Tuesday morning again and I am off to work on the farm, I do love it on the farm it is peaceful and I like the country life even if there is a lot to do.

Two Thoughts On Tuesday

Where to begin… We have cleaned out the farm house and have thrown away most things that were never used or had not been used or missed in years. The rest went into the building we have here on the farm. To give you an idea the building is 32 x 100 and it is full of “Stuff”

Thought number one today! Where in the heck did we get all this “Stuff” I would call it something else but I am going to keep it clean. From the front door all the way through is like the mall if you need one or two of something just go to that department and you can find what you are looking for. 25 years of collecting has created one heck of a pile of $#!^

So my next thought is It’s a great idea to rent out the house and keep the farm move into a smaller place and downsize. I am ready to do this but what I see is a catastrophic event unfolding. What do we do with all this. I don’t want to store it. I don’t want to move any of it again… OMG it was the worst ever to move it into the building let alone do it again! Maybe an auction would do. I really need to get my building back so I can do my work and put the tractor and implements inside. I hope nothing breaks as I work the land here or I will have to repair it in the driveway. I guess the thing to do is attack it one area at a time but it’s going to take awhile!

So here I am sitting in the office of the farm looking at all that has to be done and I have to leave to go to work. Our construction business is in full swing it’s that time of year. It’s hard to just walk away with so much to do right here to clean up let alone get the fields planted.

I am sure it will be as good a day as yesterday. Any day one can go to DMV with an out-of-state title missing a number on the VIN and still get a title transferred and walk out in thirty minutes is a good day 🙂 It’s all in how we approach the day at hand so I am thinking positive but still overwhelmed…LOL

Easter Memories

I have more than one post in my head and it’s hard to get started but I am going to make the best of this!

I remember when my daughter was about eight years old and we went to this big Easter egg hunt at a local park. We waited for her age group… it seemed to be all day before they had the hunt for the eggs, why do they do that?

She had a great time and found a ton of eggs and was so happy but there was a drawing for 100 dollars and she said she wanted to enter because she was going to win. We all laughed as a family does when this happens and said “Right, you will win…” and we headed for the car. She tugged on my arm so hard I was pulling her by her feet and she kept saying I am going to win. By the time we neared the car I, being the one who gives in, said “If I take you over there will you let it go and stop about the 100 dollars?” So we get over to the table after a long walk back (should have just done it in the first place, My bad) she looks up at me and says see you can fill it out and you don’t even have to wait to see if you win so when I finish you can take us home… *comes to my mind, How thoughtful*

So she fill out the paper and puts it in the box and she is already spending the money before we even got back to the car!? Kids.

We drive home it was the usual candy swap – I hate this kind does anyone want to trade for this kind etc… It’s ok, one becomes numb to the racket and the “give me back my candy” in the back seat! We arrive at the house and I see that she is watching the clock… “The drawing is at five o’clock Dad” Reply, “Cool I hope you do well!” So about five thirty the phone rings and there is a man on the line and he asks for Irene I said hold on please she runs to the phone * hello did I win!!!???* I am thinking you have got to be kidding me.

The nice man said “Yes, you won the one hundred dollar grand prize you can come get it now or pick it up at your convenience.” I knew what had happened by her end of the conversation and the jumping up and down. Irene writes down the address says thank you, hangs up the phone turns and says… “Can we go now I told you I was going to win geeeze Dad you have to believe it… I will find your keys… Got ’em can we go now? How about now?”

You think I am kidding, we got in the car and then she asks “How long does it take to get there!?” Only out of the mouth of an eight year old!

My Favorite Dream

After all the vacation time I have had the last few months, I have had plenty of time to think and dream about my future. I guess my favorite dream all rolls into one, but if it is a dream I guess it can be whatever you want it to be, no matter how you roll it up 🙂

Dreams are what make us as a person. Without them we would not have the drive to do the things we do in life. Dreams cause us to wake up sometimes and say I really need to get it together for one reason or another.

When we are young it is the dream of becoming something in the future that drives people to be that doctor that finds the cure, or the teacher that leaves the everlasting impression so one becomes a great person later in life. Dreams are cool, they teach us we are not bound by the word “impossible”. In or out of a dream we can do or be whatever we wish – it’s just the dream that gets it started!

My Favorite dream is that I could live like we did on vacation except for one thing I have to have internet.

I would love to become a sailboat cruiser and just sail around to all the beautiful places and take care of BlogDumps and hang out with my best friend, Trina. I know, but if I am going to dream it might as well be big right? I wouldn’t need money or TV, just a phone to call home, a computer to keep BlogDumps going, and a sailing ship to ride around in…

Yes this is it 🙂 Port to port meeting new people and experiencing new things all the time. To throw an anchor on time so it would slow down so I could take more in and have more time to spend doing such a fun thing.

Oooops I woke up and I have to go to work… That was really nice for the few moments I was there as I wrote this dream, we can always dream so maybe I can go there tonight as I fall asleep and sail away to tomorrow.

Two Thoughts on Tuesday

I am a bit late today but all this last minute stuff… YIKES!!!!!
We are working on fixing the Firefox toolbar for BlogDumps it stopped downloading so there is an update we have to do.

I guess my first thought is why is it that in the anticipation of getting ready to go somewhere that there is always so much to do and things start to go nuts. Hold on, fix that thought… must capitalize NUTS! It seems as though customers find out and it “Can you do this or that before you go?” OMG will it stop… Yes when I get on the plane and turn off the cell phone…LOL

Second thought, see photo below. It’s not a wordless thought but you get the idea… Go west and then south to warm beautiful water and relax.

*Yells across the office while writing* Can we go now?

How about now?

Will we still be alive when we get to leave?…

Can we go now????? – *Ducks to avoid flying mouse pad*

One Easy Button Please!

The Holiday’s sure seem to creep up fast… I noticed a lot of places start putting things out earlier and earlier each year. It’s not that I mind it just seems to start the hustle and bustle and the crowds. Did you ever notice that people seem to start scurrying around driving faster. Maybe it has to do with the time change it gets darker earlier so maybe there is too much to get done to make it home before dark.

Well the Holiday’s are here!

Choices of what to do today?
I know this is more than one thought but it comes from a rambling mind trying to figure out what to do next.
Have you ever felt that you had so much to do you just did nothing…LOL???

1. Off to the shop finish clean up from last job go to the dump… YUCK!
2. Work on customers table (refinishing) she has had for over fifty years I guess I could finish that it’s almost
done.
3.It’s cold outside I could clean house do dishes and do laundry… Boring
4.Sit in easy chair and work on web and new site Blowing Green (Snuck that one in) hehehe
5.Finish getting the last things I need done before I can go to L.A.
6.Take care of the wolves and go play with woofy
7. Fix the first horse stall door, it’s blowing out of control in the wind (needs repair)
8. Go to town and check PO Box see if packages finally arrived.
9. I give up… Sit in the easy chair and order an easy button online 🙂

Two Thoughts

As I sit here gazing out the window from the easy chair this morning I have to wonder what and why our system is so screwy. We have a Jeep in the family a, well, used to be nice one… Rolled,crashed and badly bruised.

No one was hurt but when I talked to the police officer there was a ticket issued for negligent driving. So now you want to know what happened.

My son was coming home from his girl friends house. I told him to be home early, he’s a good kid so he was doing just that. He was on a back country road (one of many in our area) he looked at the radio to see the time and when he looked up a car was going to hit him head-on. So he did what we would all do – swerved and went for the ditch on the side figuring a ditch wouldn’t hurt so bad. That and the jeep being a monster jeep he would have probably ended up driving over them and someone would have been hurt bad. The jeep went up the embankment and flipped over. My son was ok but we sent him to the hospital anyway. So that’s what happened.

Now Thought number two. I asked the not-so-kind officer why he was given a ticket? He replied… “He looked at the radio and didn’t keep his eyes on the road at all times so he was negligent”… But had he hit the other car it would be there fault. (They just left him there and kept going)

So, Hmmmm The clock is on the radio do you think the officer ever looks at his clock or radio? How about speedometers so the next time I get pulled over for a speeding ticket do I just say I didn’t want to be a negligent driver so I didn’t look? What about the driver who has a stick shift and misses a gear – I guess you just grind ’em till you find ’em!

I talked to the insurance company and low and behold they said the same thing and then they asked how fast was he driving… OMG, you have to be kidding like I am going to tell you he looked down at the speedometer too!

The officer told my son it was his honesty that got him the ticket and never tell anyone you took your eyes off the road for any reason. I told the not-so-kind officer if I ever have a situation like this you can bet I will make sure do scrape the whole side of the car that was going to hit me so I can avoid being charged with such a ridiculous ticket and I want to thank him for teaching my son to lie to get out of a ticket. I just don’t get it.

I called yesterday to find out where the vehicle was and the insurance lady said “We thought you had the car.” Then she said “No we have the car.” Then she said “No it is being towed to the collision center tomorrow.” Then she said “Wow this happened last month, this has been a drawn out ordeal! We have cut a check for the damage but we haven’t checked the motor and under carriage the garage has to do that so we will do a supplemental payment if it costs more…”

Sorry, Third thought &%$#$##@@! I replied nicely yes, yes it has been long and drawn out… I will call the collision center tomorrow.
