Funny thing when we decided to stay home this winter everyone laughed and said “sure you are” lol
I simply replied” get your snow blower ready it will be a beast of a winter.
So time went by most of the people we know started to ask when was our departure date, I laughed and said I already pulled the boat out of the water and put it away for the winter. And then I would say “get ready it’s coming”
“What’s coming” They would say… “A cold, bitter, snow filled winter. We are staying home so it going to be a bad one.”

So my first thought as I get going this morning is I really know why we leave. It was a record I’m told for January snow fall and there is a winter weather advisory as we get ready to head out.

When the kids were younger and home we would go sledding, skiing and all the fun things one does in the snow.
My second thought is I really just don’t want to go outside and how the heck did we do all those things we used to do in the cold!
I have even found myself warming up the truck before I leave in the morning lol

Another remodel done.

I had previously posted photos of a remodel job, it’s finally finished.
I thought I would share some photos before and after.
When the walls were first opened there were mushrooms growing inside!

There was a lot more that went on, new doors, trim, refinish floors, cabinets, etc… It was a real mess to say the least. Everything was torn out and re done. In this 3500 sq ft house there are 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, two kitchens and giant garage – All finished and ready for the market.

This brings me to my first thought: I wish the 4000 sq ft house we are working on now was not an hour away. It seems to make for such a long day.

My second thought is… Is this lady creative or what!?

Two Thoughts For Tuesday

The weather here has been incredible, one day it’s sixty five and now it’s 9 degrees and windy.
I woke up the other morning the fire had gone out, the pipes froze and it was 24 degrees in here!
My first thought is what about all the homeless we take food to. My God they must be cold!
I am going to start gathering jackets to give them.

I don’t think we would have made out ok without the electric blanket!

I know we haven’t had a Top Sites Tuesday the last couple weeks, Trina and I were in a car accident. We are ok, I spent some time in the hospital and was sent home.

My second though Is I’m loving the new windmill. It’s here put together and flying.

This beautiful windmill runs enough juice to keep the electric bill down to 3 dollars plus a 5 dollar read the meter fee and 5 dollars just to have service. Yes you guessed right, while I watch it go backwards I might as well read the meter and save the five bucks… lol

Two frozen thoughts

Not much to say here
1. It’s really cold
2. IT’S REALLY FRGGIN COLD

Sorry didn’t mean to yell that last one lol

So I get up and realize I have mail on my iPad.
Only certain mail goes there, yes I am going o get a windmill after all!
Lets recap… Ordered windmill, largest storm ever to hit the china sea, paperwork filed with customs ISF Late 10 ( whatever the —- that ment) the cargo arrived late, then allocated and trucked to Mongolia, cargo is no held hostage for correct cargo by other recipients for their cargo, negotiations accomplished, paid extra 500 or so split by everyone, should arrive to Baltimore Port tomorrow. My first thought (said out loud) was wow I am really going to pull this off.

So the morning goes along, you know getting ready, coffee… Trina says you talk about this as if you thought you weren’t going to get one. My second thought was do I really say what comes to mind!?
Yes dear you are correct, I took the chance and just figured I through the money away. Her reply “so that’s why you have been so calm about this?”
Yes to be truthful, thinking that I was paying in full to the supplier in china, the forwarder, the agent, customs and God only knows who else if it really got here it would have to be a miracle.
My lovely wife’s reply, only you…

Has TV gone stupid?

I tried to watch some of the TV shows on regular TV. It is as if they are all struggling to act.
It just doesn’t seem to have the same appeal as years ago when I was an avid watcher.
The jokes seem strained, the fake laughter in the background, it’s just not working.
The whole time I watch these shows, Two Broke Girls is one of them. My first thought is, this is comedy?

There is one show that the actors seem to play their role well, The Big Bang Theory.
I have tried to watch some of the reality shows but I don’t make it through ten minutes.
The awards shows for the actors and musicians don’t seem to have that great of an appeal either.
Is it just me? Or do others feel the same way?

My second thought is I am glad I have a couple of winter projects to work on instead of watching TV.
I have the 1968 Alumacraft Alpex Sierra to finish.

Already she looks better than when I brought her home. The boat was dirty and no trailer, just a mess

This is after compleating the new bottom and re gel coating the entire boat and building a new trailer for it.

Then there is my green power station… My “science fair project” as Trina calls it.

I have been working on re wiring and making it more efficient so when the new windmill gets here I am ready. I think I have rewired it a dozen times and I still need to add some more switches and regulators. After being on the sailboat for so long I have found that I can do the same off grid electric work on land, I have started wiring the shop with low voltage lighting and power. The 3200 sq. ft. shop with full bathroom and tools running and the apt used 56 kilowatt hours this week at 13.8 cents a kilowatt hour, roughly $7.72 for the week.

Working in the cold

It has been a great summer of hard work and lot of cool projects.

Last week we took out two twenty four foot wood beams held up by posts on 8′ centers and installed steel I beams.
The owner wanted the posts gone and the large room split in half.
Since we have been inside working for the most part the weather hasn’t effected us to much.

Before we started the beam we tore out all the rotten supports and some of the foundation

My first thought as I get ready to head out today is I am glad they are in and finished.

Well wouldn’t you know it it’s time to put the cedar siding back and fill it in with new on the outside ofthe house we’re working on.
My second thought is it is 36 degrees outside! What happened to the Indian summer… Really 36 degrees already?

So I am geared up as if I am off to the snow it’s going to be a cold day for sure.
