Two Thoughts On Tuesday

Where to begin… We have cleaned out the farm house and have thrown away most things that were never used or had not been used or missed in years. The rest went into the building we have here on the farm. To give you an idea the building is 32 x 100 and it is full of “Stuff”

Thought number one today! Where in the heck did we get all this “Stuff” I would call it something else but I am going to keep it clean. From the front door all the way through is like the mall if you need one or two of something just go to that department and you can find what you are looking for. 25 years of collecting has created one heck of a pile of $#!^

So my next thought is It’s a great idea to rent out the house and keep the farm move into a smaller place and downsize. I am ready to do this but what I see is a catastrophic event unfolding. What do we do with all this. I don’t want to store it. I don’t want to move any of it again… OMG it was the worst ever to move it into the building let alone do it again! Maybe an auction would do. I really need to get my building back so I can do my work and put the tractor and implements inside. I hope nothing breaks as I work the land here or I will have to repair it in the driveway. I guess the thing to do is attack it one area at a time but it’s going to take awhile!

So here I am sitting in the office of the farm looking at all that has to be done and I have to leave to go to work. Our construction business is in full swing it’s that time of year. It’s hard to just walk away with so much to do right here to clean up let alone get the fields planted.

I am sure it will be as good a day as yesterday. Any day one can go to DMV with an out-of-state title missing a number on the VIN and still get a title transferred and walk out in thirty minutes is a good day 🙂 It’s all in how we approach the day at hand so I am thinking positive but still overwhelmed…LOL

Two Thoughts

Thoughts of the day… So here I am back at home on the farm. It’s good to be home, sometimes we don’t appreciate where we live and how nice it is until we take off and go somewhere. Although I didn’t miss some of the daily chores…LOL I am glad to be back where I need to be, it has been a long month.

My first thought of the day is how in the heck am I going to get everything done today I have so much catching up to do. Two weeks turned into a month and that means work has piled up big time. I am going to have to pull some late hours and try to get caught up as fast as I can so it doesn’t linger on… Nothing worse then being behind the eight ball for an extended period of time!

My second thought of today is life is good. It is a beautiful day, sunny and warm everyone is healthy, working and doing just fine. One can’t really ask for much more than that.

It may not be as beautiful as the photo below… but there is no place like home!

Easter Memories

I have more than one post in my head and it’s hard to get started but I am going to make the best of this!

I remember when my daughter was about eight years old and we went to this big Easter egg hunt at a local park. We waited for her age group… it seemed to be all day before they had the hunt for the eggs, why do they do that?

She had a great time and found a ton of eggs and was so happy but there was a drawing for 100 dollars and she said she wanted to enter because she was going to win. We all laughed as a family does when this happens and said “Right, you will win…” and we headed for the car. She tugged on my arm so hard I was pulling her by her feet and she kept saying I am going to win. By the time we neared the car I, being the one who gives in, said “If I take you over there will you let it go and stop about the 100 dollars?” So we get over to the table after a long walk back (should have just done it in the first place, My bad) she looks up at me and says see you can fill it out and you don’t even have to wait to see if you win so when I finish you can take us home… *comes to my mind, How thoughtful*

So she fill out the paper and puts it in the box and she is already spending the money before we even got back to the car!? Kids.

We drive home it was the usual candy swap – I hate this kind does anyone want to trade for this kind etc… It’s ok, one becomes numb to the racket and the “give me back my candy” in the back seat! We arrive at the house and I see that she is watching the clock… “The drawing is at five o’clock Dad” Reply, “Cool I hope you do well!” So about five thirty the phone rings and there is a man on the line and he asks for Irene I said hold on please she runs to the phone * hello did I win!!!???* I am thinking you have got to be kidding me.

The nice man said “Yes, you won the one hundred dollar grand prize you can come get it now or pick it up at your convenience.” I knew what had happened by her end of the conversation and the jumping up and down. Irene writes down the address says thank you, hangs up the phone turns and says… “Can we go now I told you I was going to win geeeze Dad you have to believe it… I will find your keys… Got ’em can we go now? How about now?”

You think I am kidding, we got in the car and then she asks “How long does it take to get there!?” Only out of the mouth of an eight year old!

Two Thoughts On Tuesday

It’s a good thing we don’t do this on Monday’s ’cause I can’t think at all 🙂
In fact I wish I had more time to blog but life just seems to get in the way, I know that most people that know me would say that’s ridiculous and that I spend a ton of time on the computer… But that’s working. We are making some really cool changes and I hope to implement them into BlogDumps in the next few weeks it’s been a couple years in the coming but no need to rush…LOL

So it’s Two thoughts…

My first one is spam comments! I know you will all agree this is so annoying, years ago they were so bad it was easy to have the spam catcher get them and then Just delete the spammers. Today they have become better, they even come with a photo avatar, and can write something close to relevant. The one thing that gets me is this… Here is an example:

Spam comment about wind turbines… Thank you for making the effort to speak about this, I feel fervently about this and I get pleasure from researching this topic. Please, while you gain information, please update this blog with increased information. I’ve discovered it very helpful. There have to become charging stations everywhere.

The name of the spammer Hotsexyscrewpants and I am not putting the url but you get the drift, it was for a porn site, no I didn’t look…LOL

The thing is I have to read the spam now because I think the spam catcher is even confused!!!???

Second thought… It’s spring and I love spring here on the Eastern Shore the trees are in bloom everywhere the flowers are coming back here on the farm. Trina and I spent all day in 77 degree weather doing the flower beds, I even got out the motorized edge trimmer, I know I sound like Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor but this thing is awesome I trimmed all the walk ways. What is it about this time of year that makes one feel so good? I always thought it was because we made it through winter but I wasn’t here and I still feel this way so that can’t be it! Everyone seems to be more energetic and the construction work picks up and then we are all working hard at what we do. People are busy and happy it should stay this way don’t you think?

What Am I Thankful For?

There is so much to be thankful for I am not going to try to list them all.
I know I say that and many will say Oh you must have it easy and a job, money etc…
Actually life itself is not easy, I don’t have a ton of money (donations welcome…LOL) and for a job, well I am self employed but each time I finish a job I am unemployed until the next one comes along or starts but there is always something to be thankful for. Look at your self and really tell me that there is absolutely nothing – See what I mean you can always find something and that’s what this week is all about not a giant list of random things that make your life easy.

I have my family and all of them are well, employed and healthy. I have been blessed with the best kids a man could ever ask for and now I have a grandson – that is the best thing to have happen to our family in a while. It has was a little rough in the beginning but he is now 18 months, healthy and Awesome 🙂

God has given me a chance to see all of the good times, rough times, and happy moments I have had to go through and I would not change a thing if I could, everything has a purpose for what happens to us in this life and to open our eyes to see that we are given free will and choices and that those choices we make are what creates our destiny.

So am I a thankful person, you bet… everyday I wake up and get to see the sun shine, the beauty of the seasons changing, the smile on some ones face as you open the door for them going into a restaurant or having fun on the web making friends, watching my kids when they get together and laugh and tell their stories and I am so thankful I had no Idea what they were up to (The real reason the farm truck was under water covered in mud it wasn’t where the pigs are – it was a mud hole near them… Technicality!) Maybe I am simple person but it is the little things that make up one big thanks from all the good things that come my way.

Two Thoughts On Packing

Packing and getting ready to go somewhere has to be the most difficult thing to do. Standing on top of the suitcase, sitting on it, trying to fit that last piece in there and then saying oh crap I needed to put this in there…LOL

The hardest part is on the sailboat we don’t get to bring a lot of items with us on board but I don’t want to walk around with sailing attire on before we take off. So I am going to have to UPS my extras home to the kids when we shove off. The kids are great! Someone is always here ’cause their schedules are so different I won’t have to worry about my stuff getting back and all the animals will be well cared for.

I think I am going to get a vacuum seal unit that compresses clothes to nothing so I can get more on board and not have to worry so much about how much I am bringing with me. I have heard they are good for this sort of packing.

Well I can’t wait to get there. This is the last week we will have to wait so I am getting excited… This hurry up and wait crap is for the birds and who would have thought it would take so much prep just to take a darn vacation!!!

Second thought – Packaging.

I have been getting everything ready to go and giving out instructions to everyone.

Well, here is the deal, I have a switch installed on the wind and solar system so during the day I can turn off the inverters that make 110 voltage for the house to give them a break and charge the backup batteries. Nobody, I mean Nobody, will take on the responsibility to do this and make a mistake and kill the system I’ve worked on for so long… So I decided to install a simple programmable switch that will do six on and off events each day as programmed for however long I want it to be and it will be fully automated and I won’t have to touch it except to see it is working. I know, what does this have to do with packing…LOL

I received some of the parts from an electronics store and I died laughing when I saw how it was packed for shipping. Don’t get me wrong, this is an awesome piece but look at the photo.

OMG lets not get carried away…LOL a rubber band and two pieces of Styrofoam one inch long. It definitely made for a good laugh. So now I have something to keep me busy ’till we leave I am installing it today and testing for a couple of days just to make sure my idea works like it should.

One Easy Button Please!

The Holiday’s sure seem to creep up fast… I noticed a lot of places start putting things out earlier and earlier each year. It’s not that I mind it just seems to start the hustle and bustle and the crowds. Did you ever notice that people seem to start scurrying around driving faster. Maybe it has to do with the time change it gets darker earlier so maybe there is too much to get done to make it home before dark.

Well the Holiday’s are here!

Choices of what to do today?
I know this is more than one thought but it comes from a rambling mind trying to figure out what to do next.
Have you ever felt that you had so much to do you just did nothing…LOL???

1. Off to the shop finish clean up from last job go to the dump… YUCK!
2. Work on customers table (refinishing) she has had for over fifty years I guess I could finish that it’s almost
done.
3.It’s cold outside I could clean house do dishes and do laundry… Boring
4.Sit in easy chair and work on web and new site Blowing Green (Snuck that one in) hehehe
5.Finish getting the last things I need done before I can go to L.A.
6.Take care of the wolves and go play with woofy
7. Fix the first horse stall door, it’s blowing out of control in the wind (needs repair)
8. Go to town and check PO Box see if packages finally arrived.
9. I give up… Sit in the easy chair and order an easy button online 🙂
