Little Ones

I had kids but now they are all grown and I now have a grandson 🙂
We have the pleasure of watching him all day and he is just out of the diaper scene. This should be fun!

It took some time to learn why little ones want something so bad and then they say “Ohhhhh!! I don’t want it!”

I always thought that they were just little – well you know what I’m saying.

Come to find out we were traveling along and I saw a sign at one of the fast food restaurants for “Our New Breakfast Wraps” The photos were so delicious looking. Running late I said why not, looks good to me. We stopped and I bought two of them… We received our order my first thought was “Ohhhh! I don’t want it”, it didn’t look anything like the picture at all. I was so disappointed it was awful so now with the grandson I can understand why they do this – some things look better until you actually have one in your hand.

So it’s raining like crazy here we should have sprayed the fields today – that isn’t going to happen with this weather. We have been trying to get pumpkins in the ground on the farm before we miss the window of opportunity to do so.

I have a boat in the shop that needs to be fixed for a customer but it has stinky chemicals that have to be used so I can’t do that with Jacob under my feet so My second thought is I should just go get some toys, a lap top, turn on a TV and wait for that great afternoon nap when he takes his… Great Idea don’t you think?

Holiday Cheer

So it has been another great Christmas, I had a really good time hanging out with the grandson Jacob.
We arrived last week it was an easy flight and not as cold as I had thought it would be.

We had forgotten some things we wanted to have on the boat and this was a great opportunity to get them but getting them back was the issue…

Trina and I decided to take the car back to Florida, bringing back the items we wanted and so we would have wheels for the winter while we are there staying on the sailboat.

This brings me to my first thought for BlogDumps Top Sites Tuesday’s Two Thoughts.
So we have left super early today and thought there would not be any traffic and since it is Tuesday most everyone would be finished driving to their destinations… Wrong, not only is it nuts on I-95 it has decided to rain too not just a drizzle but steady rain. Yep stop, go, breakkkkkkk, OK go!
So this thought is WTF am I doing here? The drivers out here are nuts.

So as I close my eyes and reflect on the stay with the kids (I’m not driving right now by the way) it was a good trip.
Everyone was happy and in good holiday cheer. Jacob and I had a lot of fun playing with his trucks and toy tools. It amazes me that he knows the name of every tool and tractor.
We went to Toys R Us and we were just looking around and he said “Look Grandad that is a sit on excavator” how in the heck did he know that? It was a surprise to us including his mom and dad.

The main thought here though is I ate tooooo much food while we were there, it seemed as though everywhere we went there was food and more food, it was all so good I couldn’t help myself.
In a way I am glad we left so we can get back to our normal diet and daily routine. Well that and I miss the Warm sunny weather.

Two for Tuesday

It has become time to put the shorts away and put on the jeans it’s not really to cold yet but it is more comfortable. I hope we have an Indian summer this year, it would be nice.

This brings me to my first thought. I was listening to the weather and I knew we didn’t have much rain during the season but we had a hurricane that brought 12 to 15 inches of rain to our area and just last week we had another storm go through this area and dumped 1 to 2 inches an hour it left most everyone under water. So how could the report on the weather say we are two inches under normal rain fall for the year. This must mean that the last few years we haven’t even come close to normal because we didn’t have the big storms.

I wonder what’s up with the weather if patterns are shifting and we just don’t get the rain we used to. I know we have now been included in the lower zones as far as planting now they say it is staying warmer here.

So this brings me to thought number two… Indian summer. It would be so nice to have a couple more months of nice, not to hot but not to cold, days to finish up and get ready for winter. Fall seems to have crept up on us very fast this year and I have a lot to do.

For those who have read in my previous post about the payed off tractor, I am almost finished fixing it, I am getting the new starter this week and installing it. That was weeks ago that it broke so you can see how far behind I am! The good thing is there has been enough real work to do that has put me behind on the farm so I can’t complain. Now-days if you have work you are one of the lucky ones.

So off I go to do this weeks job – lots of rain brings roofs that leak and ceilings that fall in and then they call me 🙂 Sorry for their luck but it puts food on the table and buys Kibbles and Bits!

I really don’t mind the outdoors, I will go camping now and then. I love the wild life and the beauty it all brings.

I worked Yesterday for a good portion of the morning and then spent the rest of the day fighting my Paid Off tractor trying to get some mowing in before the two weeks of rain set in.

The neighbors cooked some burgers on the grill for the holiday and asked us over… I never turn down food 🙂

All of a sudden it’s dark and I still had work to do on the web! So Off I go and work until I can’t look at the computer anymore.

I laid down to go to sleep… So nice and tired. Would this day finally be over??? Hell no — Chirp, chirp chirp, OMG!

So Two thoughts for the day.

First thought. Since I finally fell asleep how did the little bastard figure it out and move in close to lay into it and go to town chirping? I have never heard a cricket so loud in my life it sounded as if this was a two foot long cricket!

So I get up and of course had to go, so now I am awake and looking for this cricket… Nope no where in site and not making a noise because the light is on!

So it’s time to jump back in bed and turn the light off. Of course as soon as the light goes off across the room is a small chirp. OK I can deal with that and I try to go back to sleep. OMG this is like a torture of sorts… I start to drift off and here he is back at it right next to me with megaphone in hand…. CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP you get the idea.

Second thought. It’s 3am and I am really tired now he is singing his cricket song like there is no tomorrow, lights go on and it is time to get out an arsenal of cricket killing juice (safe for the inside of the house when used in the right amounts) So about a gallon later (not to sure that’s the right amount) and chasing the disappearing chirps, they can get away and hide quick when the light comes on.

So here it is I just fell asleep and the alarm goes off and it’s time to get up. I am still tired but I have to go so I get up and listen – no chirp not outside or inside. Do they only chirp at night and sleep all day, no wait I think I heard a small tired chirp… So do I leave the radio on full blast so they can’t sleep today so I can get some rest tonight?

As you can tell by my post we have a really bad cricket season for about three weeks to a month I can’t wait for it to be over. I don’t mind them so much when they are outside but when one gets in… OMG!

Thinking On Tuesday

Sometimes it would be nice to only think on Tuesday’s and only have Two Thoughts but that is not the case. We have been home about a week now and it feels like a month. Time goes by so fast when we’re working and dealing with people constantly.

So here it is Top Sites Tuesday, the first though as I went through my blog this morning was I need to put a Captcha on the comments. It’s really not hard to pick out the spam because they use names like “DghjfWfhhf” Why they use names like this I don’t know… I have to admit they have gotten better with the comments it’s almost hard to tell if they are spam or not! I read that in Europe it is a crime for cyber attacks and the creation of bots – they even went on to give the time in jail for such a thing. I guess they are annoyed as much as we are by this. I know spam is illegal here in the US but I don’t think it applies to spam comments on the web, I will have to Google it and find out… Hmmmm

How do you know when a person knows nothing about computers? Person says… “I hate spam” Second person says “Me too, the taste is awful!” Oh, come have a laugh Monday is over…

Thought number two, it is so nice out! Last week was super hot we even had a fire in the back fields here, the cut barley just burst into flames. This week is much better – sunny but cool. So my thought for the day: what great working weather! I am off doing a home and garden type trim job in a house down toward the beach. It is very satisfying to me doing this type of work. I have the rest of the week there and then I am finished.

Two Thoughts

Thoughts of the day… So here I am back at home on the farm. It’s good to be home, sometimes we don’t appreciate where we live and how nice it is until we take off and go somewhere. Although I didn’t miss some of the daily chores…LOL I am glad to be back where I need to be, it has been a long month.

My first thought of the day is how in the heck am I going to get everything done today I have so much catching up to do. Two weeks turned into a month and that means work has piled up big time. I am going to have to pull some late hours and try to get caught up as fast as I can so it doesn’t linger on… Nothing worse then being behind the eight ball for an extended period of time!

My second thought of today is life is good. It is a beautiful day, sunny and warm everyone is healthy, working and doing just fine. One can’t really ask for much more than that.

It may not be as beautiful as the photo below… but there is no place like home!

My thoughts this morning take me to changes… It’s getting close to that time of year when everything begins to change. Not just the seasons but people themselves begin to hustle and bustle so to speak…

The kids are on their way back to school and in some cases already are.

I guess I got to this subject watching the bus go by down our country road remembering the easy days of when the kids were young and getting on that bus. I would clean house and get things ready to go while Trina would drive them down our long lane. Was it because we could try to, and were able to, keep them from making mistakes is that why it seems so simple then? Yes, they do grow up and change, their problems do to.

I think it was much easier when they were little.

I myself find change in my life as I get older I look back at things I have done and accomplished and I think back to how could I have done that better, I know I have a perfectionist problem.

As I have grown I find that now it is easier to say to myself “do you really want to do this” and I find it is easier to take the simple and more loving way out. ( Not that I was ever stubborn and stood my ground ) Is this due to getting older and I want to show how much I really care? I am not sure but I do like it. I have a customer he says the first 100 years is the hardest… LOL I think he is right! I am glad to see change in my life and that I have the ability to stop myself when it’s easy to get upset over trivial things and just say “Oh well, that’s life”.

I was on my way home yesterday from the lumber yard they loaded the truck horribly bad and the material fell out on the road. Normally years ago I would be upset and very unhappy, probably get home grumpy. I got home and unloaded went in the house and took it out on the garbage, the dishes, the vacuum cleaner, the laundry, by the time I was done the house was spotless and I didn’t remember it had happened I was in bed asleep, it’s growing up I guess.

So here it is Top Sites Tuesday – I am back in the easy chair waiting for a delivery truck and then off to the shop after I finish all my web site work. Yes, I do it all from the easy chair- now I just need an easy button!
It’s another beautiful day… I love this time of year cool at night and warm sun during the day 🙂 Good working weather. *Sips Latte*

I hope I am not on the end of the line on the truck I have a lot to do today. But if so there is plenty to do around here. It seems as though the work on the farm is never done.
