I guess it depends on what time of day it is around here – I do love the quiet in the evenings all you can hear is a few crickets and some frogs.Country life is nice especially during the summer.
When it is feeding time though the wolves can be a bit on the noisy side a few howls etc…LOL
The mornings are quiet most of the time, when it is dry you can hear the irrigation pumps running and the tractors scurrying around. The farmers do love to get up early around here! I think they enjoy working at night I guess because it is much cooler than during the day.
Every now and then during the night, when it is nice out and I have my bedroom window open, I am visited by a hoot owl…LOL All night long he wants to know Hoo Hooo sometimes I yell at him and tell him I don’t know Hoo! He seems to stay a few days and then moves on and doesn’t come back for awhile!

I had a Latin teacher (doesn’t that date me) who swore every time an owl hooted in her yard, someone in the family passed away. So as much as I love owls, I always get a little creeped out when they come around. It sounds like your experience disproves the theory. Whew!
