Top Sites Tuesday #27 – My Favorite Thing About Fall

My Favorite thing about Fall is…

Well I would write about the leaves and the end of summer, but my very favorite thing about Fall is that the lawn stops growing! Fall marks the beginning of me not having to mow for 9 months!! Ya’ll saw the lawn right? No more sneezing allergies for me!!

Today is the last time we’ll cut hay until next year!! Woo-hoo!! The fields will be short and clean looking through winter!

The other thing I like is that when I go to work on a customers house I can wear pants and be comfortable. Not shorts and sweating by butt off. And that morning cup of coffee just got 200% better! Ahh! Coffee in the cool crisp morning air… nothing like it!

When I get home, I like to…

Go in the house and put on my old tennis shoes and grab a good bottle of wine and go mow as many acres of grass until I have unwound and have forgotten all about the day. I guess the farm is a sanctuary for this sort of thing.

I do love my tractor. It has 4 wheel drive and cruise control… How can one pour another glass without it… LOL 😀 Here is a photo of my tractor – I wonder if I can get a radio installed:

Tag I’m it…

This week is what is your favorite game or adult game… Hmmmmm 🙂

When I was a kid I liked to play the game of Life… go figure I had my whole adult life to play this game, but I did enjoy it. The other was the game Monopoly… Some how my sister had me in Jail all the time or was taking all my money but that was a lot of fun we used to play them over and over again.

Then the Ouija board came out. My mother being so religious to this day I can’t believe she bought it for us.
We were so little I must have been 7 or 8 years old and I can remember the first time we all sat and played and the damn thing moved we all screamed and then my mother came in and saw what was going on and I guess that was the end of that game… I really don’t know what happened to the game I guess she tossed it in the trash.

As I write this though I remember my most favorite game was to saddle up my horse and we would all race to a place called mud lake. I had a horse and a bike – but the horse you didn’t have to peddle so we rode them all over town leaving presents for everyone… LOL

So we would go out on this mud lake there were boards that were water soaked and we would stand on them and try to knock the other person off theirs and into the mud needless to say we all came home covered in mud but it was some of the best fun I had as a kid.

So that’s it, now Tag you’re it!

My Favorite Saying

I am not one for puns or quick quips although they do sound good at times.

Many, many years ago I was on a house remodeling job and there were pictures that had to be taken down before my workers could get started. One of the guys came and asked me… You surf what does this mean??? The picture was of a guy who had just taken off on his surfboard on the giant wave at Hawaii’s Banzai Pipeline… The caption below the photo said ” Success is getting up one more time and then you fall” I have never forgotten this!

This is so true for the surfer, he kept trying to just stand up and ride a wave and then after falling many times he finally found himself at the Pipeline… Success! Since I have been a surfer my whole life it was easy for me to relate and I have carried this ever since. 🙂

This saying can be true in everything we do in life. I believe we create our own destiny, it starts when we are young – to the infant success is just that, getting up one more time and then you fall – this continues the rest of our lives. All of us are capable of beating the odds, making changes, and our lives are better if we want them to be. We are blessed living in a place where we can be and do whatever we want to do with our lives. I hope it sticks with all of you and helps you as it has me for all these years of self employment.

Success can be something small and insignificant or larger then life the choice is ours.

Top Sites Tuesday – 3 Things

1. I guess this one is the worst, I fell asleep on the beach on Saturday.
I covered everything but the top of my lily white feet… OUCH! So the top of my feet have turned three different shades of color since Saturday. The doctor gave me some prescription strength cream to put on and it seems to be working.

2. Sunday oh what a great day… Other then the burnt feet I didn’t do anything all day but watch TV and put my feet up. I haven’t done that in a long time. At the end of the day we went out for Mexican food with the grand baby, little Jacob you can see his picture in the previous posts. I love fajitas they are so good! After dinner we watched the movie “Mirrors”… I will never look at a mirror the same, I don’t do scary movies well!

3. I am puppy-sitting a little dachshund, he is so little I think he is a miniature. His name is Oscar and he thinks he is all that. It was hilarious to watch him run around all the wolves and farm dogs like he was the MAN! I guess size doesn’t matter to the little dogs but by the look on Woofy’s face I think he thought Oscar looked like dessert… LOL

Two Positive Things on Tuesday

As some of you already know, we were doing maintenance on our servers last night – so if you visited between the hours of 2AM and 5AM EST this morning you might have noticed that sites in the Wolfbernz network were down.

Not to worry though! All the work has been completed overnight and we are up and running! This was a good move for us we are now in a data center with enough back up power to run a small city. I have something positive to write about today…lol …. everything is all still running, I didn’t kill the site and we are in a better than ever data center.

Here are the technical details:

Our current data center, the entire 9th floor of 56 Marietta Street in Atlanta, has served us well over the years and has been as stable as we could have ever asked for…but as is the case with anything in the world of computers there are newer, better, faster technologies available today that we want our customers to be able to utilize. Our new data center gives us true N+1 redundancy on all critical components from the big things like generators and UPS systems all the way down to the pumps that push water to the air conditioners. All of the latest advances in hosting require two common ingredients…power and cooling. Our new center gives us many times the amount of both in our current facility. At the final phase of build out this center will boast 12 Megawatts of power, or enough to power a small city…redundantly

My Favorite Song?

I really don’t have a favorite so to speak but I do have a few that stand out in my mind. The first one I saw in concert, ok, the second one also… but back to the first one, the song really has a lot of meaning to me about our society today. Take off your shoes for the day and try on someone else’s. We have so many in need right here at home, well you know the rest no sense preaching to the choir

The second song is one of my many favorites, I don’t like a lot of the loud, crashing rock but I do Love Metallica… need I say more…lol I have seen them in concert 3 times, this particular song is played with the San Francisco orchestra
