It has become time to put the shorts away and put on the jeans it’s not really to cold yet but it is more comfortable. I hope we have an Indian summer this year, it would be nice.
This brings me to my first thought. I was listening to the weather and I knew we didn’t have much rain during the season but we had a hurricane that brought 12 to 15 inches of rain to our area and just last week we had another storm go through this area and dumped 1 to 2 inches an hour it left most everyone under water. So how could the report on the weather say we are two inches under normal rain fall for the year. This must mean that the last few years we haven’t even come close to normal because we didn’t have the big storms.
I wonder what’s up with the weather if patterns are shifting and we just don’t get the rain we used to. I know we have now been included in the lower zones as far as planting now they say it is staying warmer here.
So this brings me to thought number two… Indian summer. It would be so nice to have a couple more months of nice, not to hot but not to cold, days to finish up and get ready for winter. Fall seems to have crept up on us very fast this year and I have a lot to do.
For those who have read in my previous post about the payed off tractor, I am almost finished fixing it, I am getting the new starter this week and installing it. That was weeks ago that it broke so you can see how far behind I am! The good thing is there has been enough real work to do that has put me behind on the farm so I can’t complain. Now-days if you have work you are one of the lucky ones.
So off I go to do this weeks job – lots of rain brings roofs that leak and ceilings that fall in and then they call me 🙂 Sorry for their luck but it puts food on the table and buys Kibbles and Bits!

I was thinking about the weather, too. They said we only had a slight chance of rain this week-end so we were hoping to open the windows and finish painting the hallway at home. But it just rained all week-end…so no painting got done! Oh well!
I think the weather is on everyone’s mind. It looks like fall is going to be the shortest on record. One week it is 100 degrees and the next it is raining with overnight lows in the 40’s.
The amount of rain hitting the east coast is crazy and yet none is going to poor Texas that is needing it.
Try not to work to hard and take some time to catch the few good days that might present themselves.
You’re wishing for Indian Summer and I’m hoping for no Santa Ana winds, since that brings awful heat and the fire season. We’ve had a wet year, which usually means worse fires once they get going. Crazy.
