Haunted Tuesday!

I guess this was part of one of the scariest times of my life:

I was dismasted in my sailboat 60 miles offshore of Point Sur (Big Sur as they say) in Northern California. I drifted for about eight days with homemade sails in 19 foot seas trying to get back to shore… One night I was finally about 3 to 4 miles off the coast of port San Luis and I had no electric no radio nothing left but some water and canned and dried food. As I floated along I could hear voices at first I thought I was nuts and had been out in the water toooo long but then I saw running lights and they were coming close to me I thought OMG there are people right there!

The day before I had used all my flares and I used all my smoke in the shipping lanes once to get help from a ship and twice to keep them from running me over and once as they went by and didn’t stop I shot at them…LOL I know, I can laugh now!

So anyway the boat kept getting closer and I kept yelling to them “hey over here!” and they couldn’t hear me they were having fun and carrying on so I whistled. One of them said, “Did you hear that?” and they all said “No.” They got real quiet and I did it again and then said, “I am over here! I need help!” One of the girls on the boat frantically said, “OMG! I heard that!” and one of the guys said, “It’s just the water.”

So I tried again, then they all got super scared because they could not see me it was pitch black out there. The one girl screamed, “Lets get out of here!” and I yelled, “Don’t leave! I need help!” and one of the girls screamed. They left very fast going the other way from where they came from. I guess I scared the be-Jesus out of them. I was disappointed at the time and I did make it of course but as I look back now I laugh and think I bet they tell the story to people and everyone says they don’t believe it… Sure, voices huh?

So I think this Halloween I will go as a pumpkin or a Sumo wrestler, I haven’t decided yet I think Sumo wrestler would be cool it blows up to a life size costume with a full wedgie… LOL
