It was so funny driving to town yesterday. Traffic was moving, we were laughing and talking about the day ahead – then, all of the sudden, traffic came to a screeching halt. There was almost a 5 car pile-up! We were wondering why we almost crashed when out from in front of the first car walk a very pretty chicken. The chicken was oblivious to the fact that it didn’t just get run over or that it almost caused a huge accident… it was simply crossing the road! Which brings me to one of my thoughts of the day – why did the chicken cross the road?
Going green is an important thing now-a-days. I keep thinking about what it would take to get the farm “off the grid,” you know – independent of the electric company. There seem to be only two solutions that would work here on the farm, wind or solar. In the winter the solar would be almost useless because days are so short and the sun wouldn’t be very strong, but the wind seems to always be blowing. So I have resolved to build a windmill.

I think the chicken crossed the road to get to the other side. I don’t think the chicken was even interested it the cars or near miss.

Here in the UK, where solar power is also not the ideal method, some people who have set up wind generators actually give power back to the electricity company and are credited with the difference. So I’d say, go for it!!
