We spent the weekend on the sailboat in Cambridge, MD. It might not be Havre-De Grace but it’s nice there. We had a great weekend even a happy hour that lasted to midnight with some friends.
The first night it rained and I slept good to the beat of the rain. In the morning it was cool and the weather has changed here from scorching to just pleasant. I have been waiting for this, I thought the weather was never going to change this year. We had breakfast and hung out, then off to the farm to spray the Pumpkins. Then we left te farm for the boat. With all the free internet I forgot how much I enjoy NetFlix.
It was kinda like taking a vacation getting off the farm even though we had to come back for a few hours and then could go back.
We had missed all the marina fun and fan fair.
For the last year they have been building a light house there ( I should say as they do) “Bringing back the light to Dorchester County”. The city has done a nice job, a bit slow and too much gawking but it is nearing completion.
Now there is Wi-Fi for the whole marina, Not bad kudo’s to the city
Well they want to finish off by adding bathrooms and one part of it would be showers and bathrooms for the marina boaters. The reason is they only have one set of bathrooms and one must walk a quarter mile after leaving the dock to get to it. This would be a great addition to the park and for all patrons involved. Of course there are some here in this area that say it will ruin the park – The view whatever – and they don’t want it. One argument is it would bring in bad people at night? I say let them Go in the bathroom at night and not off the dock three boats from me! I really don’t think I need to see random people who enjoy the park at night watching the boats and looking at the lights have an emergency and there are NO bathrooms for them.
I don’t think the people understand the boaters point of view either. So my first thought is I think each one that opposes this should have to stay overnight and when they have to go in the middle of the night let’s see how they like what we call the bathroom hike… Hahaha I bet some wouldn’t make it!
Now it’s not like we don’t have one on the boat but the rule at the dock is it’s only there for emergency. I know many say then why have one on the boat, well yea, and we can have it pumped but what a pain to do so and it costs money.
I say build the bathrooms make it a nice fit to the scenery so it’s not an eyesore and my second thought is if you are worried about weird or strange people, put a key code lock on it and at midnight have the nice policeman who comes through and checks regularly lock them. The key code would be for boaters in the middle of the night. I don’t see why in our area we have so much trouble with such trivial things.

I agree with you, Wolf. I understand by having additional bathrooms there is an added security risk but…face it…people need bathrooms. I don’t see the problem with some type of key code or key card type of lock and people using the marina having to get access information. Key cards can be set to expire after a certain number of days. So if they gave someone a card for the weekend, it wouldn’t work on Monday.
That would keep the general riff -raff from destroying or misusing the bathroom. It’s a shame we live in a world that we even have to worry about those things but we do.

That is one of the most convincing and eloquent arguments on behalf of additional bathrooms that I ever heard. I’m so impressed that I’m adding one in our yard. 🙂
Of course, you have trouble in your area with trivial things because politicians are involved. There’s be no problem if it was a private facility, right?

Yes if it were to be a private facility it would be no problem and we wouldn’t hear about it until it was finished for sure.
