As I look out the port hole

It’s another beautiful day here in the South as I look across the Neuse River here in Oriental, SC. The sun is coming up and I can’t wait to be underway and headed home to the Chesapeake Bay 🙂

We have managed to take out the old motor in the sailboat and have, for the most part, prepped the new one for installation. It is a happy day I think we might manage to get the new motor in the boat today.

This brings me to my first thought this Tuesday. Why is it that people are so nice here in the south? It is almost scary. They are letting us do most of the work on the motor in front of their shop and ask every now and then if we are doing OK. The owner even asked if we needed a certain part he had stashed away that he thought we didn’t have. Now I am not saying that everywhere else people are not nice but maybe it’s the life style or the stress that certain cities bring out of the people. This has been a good trip to watch and see how people are and how they act in different areas. I can assure you of this… I am not a Yachtie by any of the yachtie types standards… lol

My Second thought is – Are we done yet? How about now? Can we leave… Will we be alive by the time we get outta here!!!!!????? As you saw in my last post I have been here way to long… How about now can I go home? I miss Woofy! I think I am starting to miss the tractor and the lawn. Am I loosing it?

Well it is time to shove off and head across the river to the boat yard and get this motor in the boat.

Have a great Tuesday

No matter how nice it is to visit somewhere, home is better. (or least that has always been the case for me)

How large of place is Oriental? It seems that some of the friendliness of a place is determined by size. The really large urban areas art often busy and impersonal, the little bitty places sometimes are cliquish, I tend to like living in the mid-range towns where people look out for each other but are so small that everyone is related and mistrustful of outsiders.

Hope you get your repairs done and have a safe trip home.

Sounds like you are home sick and I can understand that because there is no place like home. Something about sleeping in your own bed that is just wonderful.

Here’s your click ………..

Love and Blessings,

Wolf –

Do you actually have a dog named Woofy? That’s my generic name for any dog. Of course, I spell it Woofie. Yes, you have my permission to go home now.
