Sunday and Snowed In

Even though it snowed it was a pretty good day… The sun came out and felt good.

My middle son came over and we grabbed some of the parts for the 1971 Porsche 911T that needed to be worked on and brought them to the garage attached to the house, it’s much warmer there. The shop is too big and takes too long to heat it up even with the 150,000 BTU heater I guess ’cause the ceiling is 12 feet and the building is 3200 sq. ft.

We seemed to get a lot done we bead blasted the bumper and the rear deck lid to bare metal and then fixed a few old bumps and primed the parts. This is the last that needs to be done and the project is finished. It’s a great indoor project for the next few days while we thaw out.

Here is a photo. The bumper and the rear deck lid is what we are working on. It’s dusty because we are letting the paint cure really well before we buff and wax it. The color is a 1994 Porsche polar silver it’s kinda grey but has that glacier blue hint of color to it – I think the metallic in the paint makes it look different in different lighting. The metallic paint is really hard to spray also.

So tomorrow we will paint these parts and Tuesday we’ll install them and then fire up the ‘ole beast and make sure she runs well. It has been totally redone inside and out, us boys have had some fun and hard work involved in this one. She is complete with all new seats and interior. There isn’t a straight piece of metal in one of theses cars I think that has been the biggest chore…LOL
