We made the Daily Times

I can believe this we had to light the fire place last night, it’s only September. The low was in the high forties, it has now become crunch time if we are to make it out of the Chesapeake Bay before it gets too cold. So much to do before we can leave and the pumpkins – we have to get them all sold!
I wrote last week that the news was coming out to the farm for an interview on our adventure growing pumpkins. For those that follow what I do, growing pumpkins was this summer’s fun… If you want to call it that. At least I wasn’t bored and just hanging out, right? At least I didn’t plant 13 acres, lol – you can read the article here.
I think it was a good article and I hope it brings customers to the produce stand out front.

The High Price of Pumpkins – The Daily Times

My first thought when we were interviewed and asked if we had ever done this or if we had backgrounds in Agriculture… I was thinking you should see some of the stuff I come up with that I have to learn about before I start to do them! Seen any windmills hahaha

So here I am in the easy chair with Woofy by my side ( my timber wolf) the sun is starting to warm up the farm, I hear the crop duster zooming about, the fireplace doesn’t seem so important any longer. I am ready to go do something, I have to admit I really didn’t want to go out in the cold earlier. My second thought is I am off to work on a customers house, the best part is it is easy work, painting – no thinking – no hard labor, just hang out and put some paint on the wall. Some say it’s hard – for me it’s like a vacation from the rest of all the things we seem to do around here.

Have a great Tuesday!

That is an excellent article. It reiterates, though, how much work growing pumpkins entails. I wouldn’t attempt that for love or money.

That is very cool to have customers that are honest and pay for the pumpkins they take. I would like to think that would be true in other areas but I have my doubts.

As for painting being like a vacation. No..not for me. The cutting in part would have me in a tizzy. I suck at it.

Those that can ….do, those that can’t…. hire those that can.

Have a great week.

That was a nice article. They didn’t even imply that “This guy must be crazy for taking one four acres of pumpkins without knowing anything about it.” 🙂 I’m just curious … what do you get for a medium sized pumpkin?

Hi Bud

I see you are getting to know me well lol
Me and my crazy endeavors right!

We have ended up with trailer loads of pumpkins and the cost for one that size would be about 3 dollars… The stores get much more though
