Ok, I’m Tired

It has been so crazy around here, as you all know I am planting pumpkins this year on the farm.

It has been a real process to do this. (I have never planted pumpkins before) First I had to bush hog all the tall grass then mow it with a large finish mower. Then it was off to tractor supply to get a sprayer to pull behind the tractor to spray roundup and kill the grass, the dead grass makes a nice bed for pumpkins to grow on.

Off to spray the field… done just before leaving for Tennessee on Saturday morning, got back to plant on Tuesday and it looked like the round-up wasn’t working well. Now it is back to the tractor with the finish mower set on scalp and decided to just go for it!

Trina and I added the plow to the tractor to cut the rows and we planted three or more acres. This went on till early the next morning. We woke up to a bright sunny day, no rain but the grass was DEAD 🙂

Ok now rain? Ok how about now… one of the guys at the shop said we could use the big four wheeler and put a large tank on the small trailer and hook up a bilge pump from the boat to pump water out of the tank with a hose!

By Gosh I think he got it, hooked into pvc pipe with a 12 volt switch and water aimed at the rows with rain heads and drive that artificial rain home baby! I drove it all over so happy but then I had to do it again it didn’t rain. So My first thought is can someone post a link to a rain dance I could try?

Did I mention Trina and I are working on a total loss boat that a tree fell on at the same time?
Yes a tree fell on it and chopped the nose off and bent the railing. Matt fiberglass, gel coating… OMG!

Finally we had a bit not a lot – a bit of rain. So we took the night off from watering and worked on the boat to get it finished.

Did you say website work… Hang on let me get my other hat.

So why hasn’t it rained? It was raining on the other side of the property line – lightning, thunder – one could see it on the radar it’s raining one farm over from the north!!!

After being up until 1am in the morning watering I thought Oh Yeah 🙂 but Nope nada zip four rain drops I counted them.

So I had a pinch hitter for the watering yesterday and I took the time to finish the boat and get it out of the shop. Then Trina and I watered until about 1 am again. Is this getting boring yet I am worn out just thinking about it.

I did have the fun of Jacob coming by and riding with grandad on the tractor he said ” Knock Knock”… Who’s there? “Orange” orange who? “aren’t you glad I didn’t say banana” and throws his head with laughter. I guess no matter how many time I hear it I still laugh with him.

Last night Trina and I cut in and planted a few thousand more plants and then watered due to the fact that the rain came within acres of us about seven times yesterday.

This morning we woke up late, go figure… it is super windy so no watering there are some plants coming up though 🙂

Since I have nothing else to do, my second thought is to work on a Threshold I need to make for a customers front door – we’re making a new one out of mahogany to replace the old rotten oak one – and get ready to go there on Thursday to do some work there and rest up for watering tonight.
