A Nice Trip

So my number one son has gone home to a bit of a mess, to say the least! He came back home to the Eastern Shore from TEnnessee to remodel his inlaws…( Now lol that’s a real blog post but it won’t ever get published!?!?)

Anyway! He and his lovely wife picked up, moved to Tennessee from here with no job lined up , I gave him one of the enclosed work trailers and helped him move. As any father would be, I was proud to see him strike out on his own in the world but sad to see him go. I had hoped that all I taught him working together for years would pay off.

They have been there 18 months. In that time they are self employed. His wife runs a cleaning company, He is contracting. They saved up for a starter home and were short a few bucks on the down payment so my son gave the man his nice 30.06 rifle and bought a house on six acres with a little creek that runs through the property, a fixer upper but not bad. He already installed a new kitchen, cleaned up the barn, repaired the broken windows, fixed it up etc…

They are a great young couple making it and all on their own and in this economy.

Well they got home the (friend) that was to watch the house well he did more damage then good ( that’s even another blog post geeez)

Now to top it off, well after coming home to the frozen pipes- it did snow while they were gone, the owner finance guy, after giving him a warranty deed for the property and a payment schedule came to them and told them he has a ballon payment on the mortgage he has on the property due in March. Nice huh? he said he didn’t know about it and doesn’t have the money.

He said he would hate to lose the property and is bringing them the notice from his mortgage lender. (Like he didn’t know that a balloon payment was coming due, the man is fifty for Christ sake. As grams used to say, “Jesus Wept!” )

The guy gave them a warranty deed, and the tax payment that is due.

My first thought, crap I really can’t publish it!

My second thought is why does this have to happen to good young couples that try to do everything right to the best of their ability.
Just to get ripped? This world is just full of people like this waiting for them.

As my son said it will work out it always does, wonder where he got that attitude?

On a lighter note, yea I’m done ranting, have you seen the new Wolverine movie it was great.

Need a Facebook Share Button?

Here is one that seems to work just about anywhere and it has a counter on it too!

Make sure to change where it says yoursitehere to your URL.

I was looking for something that wasn’t a plugin and that I could put just about anywhere on a web site. This one seems to do the job just fine. I have tested it on may sites and it works every time.

Just right click and copy then paste it where you want it. On a web page this may help you gain some new readers and for those in business it may help with sales if your site is shared around Facebook. If you are in business on the web it doesn’t hurt to use social media to get the word out about your web site but… There is that word! You really don’t want to just spam your site all over the social media sites you have to take the time to network this is the catch that most people miss out on. the more you network the better you will be received and not banned or deleted.

I know this sounds very bias but BlogDumps is a great place to use just for this type of promotion to get your site noticed. If you use a Blog for your content management system you can be a featured blog and get on the front page of BlogDumps. BlogDumps gets up to 7200 page views a day so for just a few dollars a one time fee your there for life!

So You Want A Web Site?

Many people come to me and want a web site, the first thing I ask them is have you ever had a puppy or kitten?

They always look at me very funny and then answer me with a usual yes they have at one point in their life.

Most people think they are going to have a web site built and and then their company or site will start producing. Those of you that have a web site or blog know this to be different.

I then go on to explain that a web site or blog is just like the puppy or kitten at first you are all excited and you must show it to everyone take it everywhere it’s so perfect. But it needs attention… Vet visits, Shots, brushing, teaching it not to poop in the house and all the training that goes with it. I always get the puzzled look!

Then I let them know if you do not have time to take care of it and spend time during the week to do the things that make your web site grow then you shouldn’t get one.

Commitment is doing what you said you would do long after you said you would do it.

Most people do not have what it takes to have a web site, especially one that is managed by a webmaster. A webmaster is only as good as the info and photos that you provide. The design, look and layout can be the best in the world but if you don’t update your site about your product or you don’t make but a couple of posts on your web site’s blog, it looks as though you are not interested in your own business. Hence neither will the visitor that lands on your site. Some don’t care they just blog for fun and for their friend or for the sake of just writing which is cool I can understand that I do enjoy just blogging.

So I know now you are wondering why I would try to detour a customer from getting a web site? I have seen this so many time over the years even after I have done the whole speech thing about the puppy crapping on the floor and the loss of interest after is has grown. It gets thrown to the side and then it’s the question… Why am I paying for a site that doesn’t do much? I sell some on the web but the traffic has just fallen off! How come you don’t update it?

It is not the webmaster’s job to say ” Hey this week I think I will make your site pink” that doesn’t do it. The text must be re-written and updated and who knows more about their own product? How about some updated photos? When was the last time you posted on your sites blog?

A webmaster does necessary website updates, SEO work, fix the site if it gets hacked, update it with all the new info and photos provided by the customer to change the look and feel so it is fresh and new looking. This also makes it more search friendly than a site that just sits and nothing changes.

If you don’t have the time to take a few hours a week and work on your own then don’t get a website or blog. You must be passionate about it long after the puppy grows into a dog.

Just a few Tips

I know I am supposed to write about blog and web site tips so I will add a few before I let you know about what I have been up to. That will be the next post. I am so glad I will have the time to get back to blogging, it’s awful when life gets in the way…LOL

I have noticed that the spammers have started copying some of my regular visitors comments and then using them as theirs with a link to their own site! Will they stop at nothing, OMG! So check your comments and make sure you really know who left it on your blog.

For those that blog and those that have web sites I have found that if I keep the title and meta of a page simple and the page text relevant to title and meta that Google indexes it better. I tested this on a web site for three years I had a simple page with text in the top middle that matched the head title and meta tags it was number one even better than the parent company I was promoting. I thought, ok this has been working for years and I just keep moving up under even more of my key words so I thought I would change it and see what happens I changed it to the new style of titles and tags etc… Well, the page disappeared out of Google all together – I can’t even find it! So if it is working and you are where you want your site indexed don’t get talked into changing what is working!

If you really want more of a web site look when people land on your domain but you do not want to rely on a webmaster to update your web site use a WordPress CMS (content management system) Create a static front page with links to many other pages about what it is you do and then a link to your blog where you can tell your visitors about you and your products updates. This is one of the simple ways to have the best of all sites. If you need help with a WordPress blog let me know I can help.

Relaxation

This weekend was the first weekend in about 8 months I haven’t had to worry and fret over my son and his family and the atrocity that has gone on… I have spent every extra minute reading and researching contacting doctors and experts in the field of infants that have had some sort of brain bleed. We found in our research that y grandson had a pre-existing condition that happens to many infants and when the doctors can’t explain it they say the parents must have done something… OMG, do these people have anything in their heads?!? So it was time to do what we do best, investigate. I feel like a walking encyclopedia… I guess we did a good job (Trina and I) because after eight months and entering our reports and the experts findings in about thirty minutes it was over, done!

My son, his wife, and his son were reunite. Wow what a blessing! If someone doesn’t say prayers work kick them in the *** and set them straight! But I do have to say God helps those that help themselves. So I had this overwhelming feeling this weekend of “what to do?” a void so to speak. It has lasted a few days… To go from every second of life filled with anticipation, worry, and helplessness to a screeching hault!

So I decided to do just nothing and let it all soak in. I sat in the easy chair, snored like a freight train, woke up, ate some food and tried to watch a movie but I fell asleep again. It was nice to relax and just not have the overload on my mind.

On Sunday I slept in a bit and then started to try to figure out where I had left off before all this had started. I took a walk to the grapes I planted on the farm and had a great conversation I guess they enjoyed it also I have grapes already. Then I made my way back to the house and tried to pick up the computer and it just wasn’t working I had spent to much time on it so off to take another nap! Oh, it was a good one except I didn’t snort and fall over backwards remember that one…LOL Trina asked me about three if I wanted to go walk the mall and just take it easy. So we did. We stopped in a Japanese restaurant and had some great food and just hung out and had fun like old times.

Today as I sit in my easy chair and write, I feel good. It’s like life has taken a turn for the best I am ready to pick up where I left off and get things rolling again. I have so many things I want to do especially on BlogDumps I have some ideas and now I will have the time and energy.

Tuesday – Finish The Sentence

I would like to but first I have to start one 🙂

So If I could, I would like to be in a position in my life to where I could help others in need. Not that I don’t try now, I just wish I could do more. There are so many things that effect our daily lives that need to be addressed that are just swept under the rug and some have no where to go. For example on my other blog Wrongblog look at the kids that write me all the time. There are so many other things that should have attention brought to them, maybe through blogging I can at least give it my best.

I once started blogging about four years ago I do think Wrongblog was born about this time of year and I have had a great time ever since… I have met some of the nicest and brightest and most helpful people on the planet. I say the planet because I now have friends world wide it is amazing how the internet has made our world such a small place, if only everyone could see this and just get along and work together we could make our world a much better place.

I have so much on my plate it’s going to be a long day… No hanging out this morning! I am off to work in six different directions…LOL at least the sun stays up long enough to get everything finished. Then when the sun goes down I get to try and figure out how one of the web sites I run got hacked. They left a footprint so I did get them, their site and forum for hackers has been shut down for now. The issue is how did they do it!
