Two Thoughts On Tuesday

My first thought this morning is if it doesn’t stop raining we are going to have to boat it to work…
The weather has been so weird! We have had more water then I can remember since we have lived here on the Eastern Shore. Thank God the farm is on a small hill, if you can call it a hill – there aren’t many high spots where I live. We are high and dry but most are under water, I have been working on one house trying to save it from the water all winter. They have water in their crawlspace, all the way to the floor boards. I have finally designed a system that will work and keep it dry without going under the house.

And to think a couple years ago the drought here was so bad that everyone’s wells were running dry and they had to put in new ones, go figure?

My second thought…
We have an African Grey parrot. One would think that if he whisled and called the dog the dog would be faked out and would go toward the kitchen… No the dog acts like nothing has happend. Now, I hear the door bell, the telephone, the fire alarm, the kids arguing and I don’t get faked out, I think it’s real. So what gives…

Should I follow the dog’s lead and see if she moves first?

I wish someone had told me 20 years ago that African Grey Parrots live forever and never shut up… LOL

He can be fun though we had friends over and Cindy was sitting at the end of the table by herself and we all heard this fart sound and she (red in the cheeks) says, “It was the bird.” We all laughed and said, “Yeah right, the bird farted!” We all  knew it was the bird, and we turned around and the bird did it again and we all said, “OH! I guess that was the bird too…”  She about died of embarrassment. She kept saying it was the bird, we all had a good laugh and one of the boys said, “At least it doesn’t smell!”

Have a great Tuesday, I will be by everyone’s blog this afternoon!

Gosh that must’ve been quite a challenge to get that house from flooding out like you described. Good to know you were able to come up with a good fix for it.

Oh, maybe it would be pretty fun to teach that parrot to say “She farted” or “He farted” just for fun!

Thanks for sharing those thoughts with us! Haha, those were fun!!!

(Clicks for you, Wolfbernz!)

Hi Liggy.
That’s a good one I am going to work on that…LOL

Wolf

I hear you re the water…”10′ high and rising!”, Wolf! Our crocuses and daffodils, tulips..I had to learn how to make little life-jackets for all of them out of sandwich bags..hahaha. Poor things..they are going under, coming back up to fight another day, back under, back up…a lesson in fortitude!

And now to your Grey..hahahaha! They are something, aren’t they? Especially in this weather I’m having to really impress on the dogs to “Get outside…” while our Grey is yelling “Get IN here!!” I don’t know who is more confused…the dogs or myself but, as you said, for some reason the dogs don’t pay any attention to the bird (umm…ahem…well, no more than they pay me!). We have run to get the phone, check for smoke etc. unnecessarily and, as in instances such as the other night when I spilled a whole container of bird seed all over the kitchen floor I hear…”Well????” Yeah…another sixty years seems like a stretch..hahaha. But you can take heart, my friend…you don’t have a cockatoo and if you are smart…never do! Your ears will never be the same!

Great post! Clicks for you…

I love parrots and I have had my share. They are a lot of fun but very messy and noisy. Mine almost got me into trouble with the child protective agency because when I would leave the house and they were not able to get out of their cages for a while they would start screaming at the top of their lungs …… Let me out …. let me out ….. it could be heard for blocks! So the neighbors called and said I had my children trapped inside the house. When they came over I showed them what happened. They thought it was really funny!

Here’s your click …….

Love and Blessings,
AngelBaby
